SAM Vokes will be included in Burnley’s week-long pre-season tour of Austria today, despite having some way to go on his road to recovery.

The striker is not expected to return to action until the end of this calendar year or beginning of 2015 after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate knee ligament in late March. During the closed season Vokes also had surgery on his shoulder following a minor dislocation mid-season.

But manager Sean Dyche says the Wales international is responding well to treatment and physio following both operations and will accompany the squad on their European pre-season trip today.

MORE TOP STORIES:

“He’s good. He’ll come away with us,” said the Burnley boss.

“We want Vokesy to know he's still part of it and it will give him a nice lift to come away with us.

"We've got very good facilities over there as well, so he'll get maximum time with physios and maximum facilities to keep doing his rehab.

"But he's going along nicely. He's in good spirits actually.

"I keep reminding him there's nothing not to be happy about.

"These things nowadays, it's just time. You clear up, get back fit, happy days you're in the Premier League. You just keep focusing on that.”

But Dyche said it was not yet possible to say when the 25-year-old would be ready to return to first team action.

"It's too early really,” said the Burnley boss.

“When it gets closer we can start defining timescales but he's certainly going well as regards the general rehab.”

Michael Kightly is not currently involved in first team training while he also recovers from injury but the winger, who made his move from Stoke City permanent this summer after a full season on loan at Turf Moor, will also travel with the squad to Austria this afternoon.

The Clarets will be based at a training camp an hour south of Vienna, with the trip rounded off by their first friendly of pre-season.

Dyche’s side will play FC Grossklein, who play in the Styrian championship and are located near Graz.

Still no quality, up and coming, hungry signings. Just over the hill journeymen, nothing to get excited about unless you like relegation dogfights. When's Deeney coming? What about seeing if we can get Klosse for a season, that would be young and world class experience in two signings.
Wheres the money?

Let me see - hmm who have Blackburn got at Right back? Jason Lowe? Baptiste (ha ha ha ha ha ha what a donkey)? Henley (crap)?

Whereas we have Trippier (Best right back in the Championship for the last three years) and Reid as his back up - both of whom are infinitely better than anything you have got.

Poor deluded little Blackburn gimps.

This item hit the net at 9:06 am. 2 minutes later a Blackburn fan has typed and responded. If that's not dedicated stalking of the highest order I don't know what is. And Vokes - no mention. Just dribble dribble drivel ad he spits out nonsense. Well done though for confirming how damaging our promotion has been to your stranger followers. Still hurts doesn't it? Back to bed now.

I think some of our Blackburn fans might be right.

Dyche told us he hoped to have two more new players to go on tour - but absolutely ZILCH!!!!!

Why are Hoos and our directors failing to get our top targets signed - Bryson (turned us down), Deeney (Watford laughed at our bid), Dawson (bid rejected as usual).

We've only paid £500,000 in transfer fees - most Championship sides have spent more than that, the likes of Rotherham and Brentford.

I expect you to not be so embarrassed about supporting Blackburn that you pretend to support their Premer League rivals..

Although to be fair, like yourself. I would imagine that we may see a percentage of the 'Missing 15000' Blackburn fans rock up to watch top flight football again next season at Turf Moor.

Blackburn, picking dockers since 1875.

Rovers did sign them after their loans had finished, but they didn't make out they were new signings after just landing 120 million and spending none of it. On new blood in, we at Burnley have spent 600 grand on a championship striker, where's the quality?

Matt Taylor - Proven PL quality and will probably be a first team starter.

Steven Reid, Matt Gilkes and Sordell - Good cover and a vast improvement on last season's bench for quality first teamers like Trippier, Heaton and Ings, all of whom are definite starters next season.

I expect us to sign Dawson as a replacement for Duff, Deeney or Jutkeiwicz as a replacement for Vokes, another winger to potentially replace Arfield or Kightly and a CM to compliment Marney, Jones and Taylor.

I assume that you forgot about the £1.5 million we paid for Michael Kightly?
Yeah there's nothing more exciting than buying a player you already had, then making out that its a new signing. Keeps the season ticket holders guessing that one, makes them start thinking about pies instead.

Did you not so the same with Cairney and Gestede?

Sign players after loan deals and parade them as new signings?

And you sign Reg Varney, The Lump and Baptiste - wow, I get the jealousy, you must be gutted.
I'd sooner have Baptiste than Reid, Reid is finished, Baptiste is 28
And right there in that one statement you have just proved your lack of ambition - you would prefer a right back who was a liability last season in the Championship than a player that has played for the last ten seasons in the Premier League.

Baptiste will start for Blackburn and be your main man, whereas Reid will be just used as good COVER for the best right back I have ever seen Keiran Trippier.

I almost feel sorry for Blackburn's lack of ambition, as it is like FFP has suddenly emerged out of the darkness like a scary monster which is causing the Venkys to run around panicking - I give them one more year before they cash in their chips and put Blackburn where they belong - in administration.

Its easy to see why you think Trippier is the best right back you have seen when we spent time taking in division four full backs, there have been better fullbacks than Trippier beyond your claret and blue glsses

I assume that you forgot about the £1.5 million we paid for Michael Kightly?
Yeah there's nothing more exciting than buying a player you already had, then making out that its a new signing. Keeps the season ticket holders guessing that one, makes them start thinking about pies instead.
MMmmmmmm Pie
Did you not so the same with Cairney and Gestede?

Sign players after loan deals and parade them as new signings?

And you sign Reg Varney, The Lump and Baptiste - wow, I get the jealousy, you must be gutted.

do burnley not only play with themselves (now that could take you down an alltogether different path)?

so you have seen no opposition full back in 35 years that betters trippier. wow! i am amazed he didn't go to brazil or make more appearances for the england junior teams
I am actually embarrassed for you hasslem, I thought you had more about you than this.

Surely the line above: 'Go on then, name me a better Burnley full back in the last 35 years which is how long I have been watching them,' gave you a massive clue?

Your banter is unfortunately for you strictly Second Division - like your team.

That's exactly my point, Trippier is Burnleys best right back, but you are comparing him with division four players, we will now have to compare him with pl fullbacks, now do you understand?
