Burnley break 13,000 season ticket sales barrier

Lancashire Telegraph: Burnley fans have snapped up season tickets Burnley fans have snapped up season tickets

MORE than 13,000 supporters have signed up to Burnley’s Premier League season, but there is still room for more.

The Clarets have an allocation of 15,000 for season ticket holders, of which around 13,500 have been sold ahead of the 2014/15 top flight campaign.

Around 500 full-price tickets have been snapped up since the end of the Early Bird offer, despite the price hike. Season tickets went up from £229 under the ‘early bird’ scheme to £499.

Burnley have endeavoured to offset the increase with three-month and six-month direct debit options, which are available until the end of this month.

Also, anyone who has bought a full-price season ticket is entitled to a £100 advance payment on the 2015/16 ‘early bird’ prices, which have been frozen.

The remainder of Turf Moor’s 17,500 home capacity has been reserved for matchday walk-ons. And with the town clamouring to see the Clarets back in the big time, starting with an opening day fixture at home to Chelsea, the club is anticipating a packed out ground next season.

The criteria for walk-ons has not yet been disclosed by the club.

The last time Burnley won promotion from the Championship, in 2009, the club introduced a membership scheme to give priority to ‘walk-on’ customers, but there has not yet been any suggestion that will be the case again this time.

The Clarets launched a Flexi-ticket scheme last season, where supporters could buy four-game or six-game batches, but there has been no indication of a similar process being rolled out again this year.

Will be fantastic to see a full house every home game and the cream of World football on display at Turf Moor again.... there might even be one or two decent away teams too.

A 15,000 limit and it looks like that won't be reached for the biggest season in most supporters lifetimes.

I suppose when your fellow 'supporters' who sit on the board of directors think it is reasonable to charge £700 per season ticket it is to be expected.

Now all we have to do is offload Ings and operation Early Bird Season Ticket Sucker Punch is complete.
I must say the Sordell signing is a peach, obviously he was much too good for Bolton so they kept him out of the way whilst they built a team around his style of play but just ran out of money.

now - even your most ardent supporters must agree that 13,500 STHs is pathetic - although I have heard that the new swipe cards at burnley will help clamp down on the huge number of adults going in on kids' tickets

You see the thing is, as much as the no-dads want to knock Burnley's every move, they simply can't...

Sean Dyche brought in Tom Heaton, David Jones, Scott Arfield and Michael Kightly.... for NOTHING. He then spent £400k on Ashley Barnes.

We went up. Blackburn Rovers worst nightmare come true.

come on old donkey ears - we have been conversing over the years - and you still can't spell my name!

midas - you need to have a look on our pages and often over half of the contributions are from one particular OCDingle (regardless of the other hill monkeys).

i think i make tow relevant points that surely 13.5k is a bit of an embarrassment. More importantly - I know there are loads of Burnley fans that get in at child rates that are well into their "prime". hopefully your new ticketing system will help clamp down on that. these are people who claim to be burnley supporters but are not prepared to pay a fair price.

As a rovers fan I am no Burnley lover. I do wish you well and hope you stay up so we can meet next season. You may even get bigger gates than us this year, (and ours are poor). I think it's about right that one or maybe two fo the newcomers will go straight back down. Good luck!

If we look at how important gate receipts are in the champ compared to the PL then Rovers really are in deep trouble. Cheaper than league 2 yet crowds declining year on year. Of course the reality is too hard to take, so envy, bile and hate fills the time between now and the debt collectors call.

Example. City of Leeds 700,000 population. Burnley 73,000 population. 13,000 season tickets. As a proportion of population, that's 17.8%.

17.8% of the City of Leeds is 124,600.

Would some please explain to me, cogently, how Burnley raising 13,000 season tickets could be considered poor by anyone?

No. The town of Burnley is 73,000. If you want to count in other towns whose population can support so many other clubs, then in my example Leeds kicks up to 1,400,000. So there you go, try as you might you don't knock down this per-head excellence.
