Blackburn Rovers sign striker Chris Brown from Doncaster
BLACKBURN Rovers have completed the signing of Doncaster striker Chris Brown on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Rovers and becomes the club’s first signing of the summer.
Brown, who will soon be joined at the club by Luke Varney after his contract from Leeds United expires, said: “I’m delighted.
“As soon as I heard of Gary Bowyer’s interest I just wanted to get it done as soon as possible, to get playing, to get back to training and to meet my new team-mates.
“I’m delighted to have signed.”
Brown was named Doncaster’s player of the year last season after scoring nine goals in 43 appearances.
The 6ft 3in targetman had one year remaining on his contract at the League One new boys.
But the contract contained a relegation clause, meaning he has been allowed to leave for nothing.
Brown, who counts Sunderland, Norwich City and Preston North End among his former clubs, has signed a two-year contract with Rovers.
But his weekly wage is less than £10,000 per week, the figure quoted by new Doncaster owner John Ryan last week.
