Burnley to open Premier League campaign against Chelsea

Lancashire Telegraph: Burnley to open Premier League campaign against Chelsea Burnley to open Premier League campaign against Chelsea

BURNLEY begin the new Premier League season with a mouth-watering home clash with Chelsea.

The Clarets, back in the top flight for the first time since 2010, tackle Jose Mourinho’s big-spending Blues on the opening weekend of August 16.

And life gets no easier for Sean Dyche’s side with Manchester United the visitors for the second Turf Moor game of the new season on August 30.

Burnley’s first away match of the new season is a trip to Swansea City on August 23 while the Clarets end the campaign at Aston Villa on May 24.

The festive period looks particularly tough for Burnley with a home match with Liverpool on Boxing Day sandwiched in between trips to Tottenham Hotspur (December 20) and champions Manchester City (December 28).

The Clarets visit Stamford Bridge for the return fixture on February 21 while Dyche’s men visit Old Trafford on February 10 and Anfield on March 3.

The opening day Chelsea fixture could see Cesc Fabregas make his debut for the Blues having joined from Barcelona.

The Clarets lost both games to Mourinho’s men in their last top-flight campaign but did famously knock the Blues out of the League Cup in 2008.

Burnley fans will be hoping for to repeat their victory over Manchester United from the 2009-10 season when Robbie Blake scored the only goal of the game in what was the Clarets’ first home game of that season.

All fixtures are subject to change.

Reality bites straight away.

Thoroughbred Derby winners against carthorses on their way to the knackers yard.

The only thing in your favour is that you are at home and the majority of Chelsea players last played in a third world ground when they were kids.

All joking aside though, best of luck.

Not an easy start on paper but I'd rather play Chelsea and Man U at home in August than May. Clairvoyants out in force and they got everything wrong last year. Run out ofsteam, crash after Christmas, never beat a top six side, Ings will go, Ings will get injured, Dyche will go, Dyche will get a divorce and move to the seaside - every prediction wrong. We lost how many games? They predicted every one a defeat, including the battering they took at Ewood. So Chelsea at home it us and 1,000s of bitter and twisted fans in Blackburn fixated on us again

The Gems.

The first two home games Chelsea and Man Utd. That's truly fantastic. To get those out of the way early as they try to bed-in the new mega-stars they will have purchased. If you fail to collect a single point against the top 8 teams, pick up a 50% haul against the second 8 and a 75% haul against the rest, you stay up. Proven so often

The in-house genius Dyche needs to get the squad he ends up assembling absolutely ultra-megafit. If they can play the pressing game at full tilt in the 90th minute + they will have a truly great chance.

Premier League! Up the Clarets.

Blackburn Rovers have absolutely NO CHANCE of promotion to the Premier League - what on earth makes you think that you are good enough?

You finished a lowly EIGHTH place last season, which was your HIGHEST position of the season?

You have no consistency at all, you win won, lose one, draw one - hence your league position only rose to eight despite you being unbeaten in 12 games but by which time it was too late to make an impression on the league

Only you whoppers think that you have a chance - the bookies have you as NINTH favourites for promotion.

Staying Down Forever Love Burnley

When you stop crying and stop making hissy girly squeaks about a club you don't support you might come up with some original banter than trotting out cliche after repetitive cliche.

The high pitched whine emanating from Blacburn has been heard as far away as Bejing. Ladyboys in Phuket can hear you screaming. You are not in the same league as us now go sob into a pillow quietly please!

Simple fact of life, Leicester, promoted as Champions don't thing he is good enough for the PL so are looking to offload.

Burnley, looking for someone, anyone on the cheap think he is.

Only time will tell.

Like most football fans I revel in a bit of Schadenfreude, I have enjoyed 34 years of Rovers dominance . But now its your time.
I actually hope you stay up , but hope it t is by goal difference and you have a season that is as enjoyable as our last in the prem under Voldemort. ( you would expect no more from a Bstard)
I want Rovers, Wigan and Bolton to go up next year, so that we can spark off each other in the Top League , with the Ultimate Aim of sending the dingles back where you belong

Good luck my six fingered friends, I am sure you will have some highs so enjoy them, Us North West small town team have to take it where we can get it
But I doubt you will ever join the elite five who actually won it . then again we won`t be doing that again in my lifetime

We've already won it. Twice. And we did it without buying it. Twice.

Bob lord bought Burnleys success, and then closed Accrington down to try and boost Burnleys pathetic home support. He wasn't very successful as Accy probably get a better turn out than the team that tried to kill them.
Burnley, we have stabbed people in the back since we were that eighth best team in Europe, for winning one match. We have no class and are proud of it.

Still can't get it right can you Jimbo? You thick Blackburn scrubber.

You still haven't commented on my post on the other thread about Blackburn being NINTH favourites for promotion out of Division Two next season - do you think that's fair seeing as you take such stock with bookies odds?
