BLACKBURN Rovers captain Grant Hanley has been called up to the Scotland squad for their international friendly with Nigeria at Fulham’s Craven Cottage on May 28.

But there is no place in Gordon Strachan’s 28-man squad for Hanley’s Rovers team-mates Jordan Rhodes, Craig Conway and Tom Cairney.

Striker Rhodes scored 25 goals in the Championship this season, a total bettered only by Leeds United’s Ross McCormack, who has been selected by the Scotland boss.

The Scotland boss has also picked two other Championship forwards ahead of Rhodes, Derby’s in-form Chris Martin and Wigan’s Shaun Maloney, as well as Everton’s Steven Naismith and Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths.

Winger Conway finished the campaign with four goals and 12 assists in 18 games while midfielder Tom Cairney, who is still waiting for his first international call-up after playing for Scotland’s U21s, was named Rovers’ player of the year.
