SEAN Dyche knows he may have to be patient to get the players he wants for Burnley’s Premier League campaign – as he prepares himself for a busy summer.

Dyche has started making recruitment plans after the Clarets secured their place in the top flight, holding discussions with the board over his summer budget.

The Burnley boss will have money to spend following promotion but finances will still be limited compared to their Premier League rivals, so Dyche has warned that deals could take some time to come to fruition.

“It’s all about aligning everything,” he said. “I don’t think we’ll be in a position where we go ‘bang’ and it happens.

“We’re obviously in a better position because we’re in the Premier League, we have finance to use, although not a bottomless pit.

“I don’t imagine we’ll be the biggest spenders in wages or acquisitions, but it will give us a chance to invest in good players.

“I’ll be looking for players that can affect the group – not at any cost, but certainly at cost, if and when needed.

“The players we have here know I’ll be pushing them and whoever comes in the building for more, because that’s what it’s going to take.

“We’ve moved up a division, simple as that.”

Dyche will get a holiday at some point over the summer but he is not winding down just yet, even though the season finished 10 days ago.

“It’s not stopped yet,” he said.

“It’s been constant communication with our own people, the board, the chief executive.

“People forget the board came out and told the truth early season, they kept it real.

“The chief executive worked hard to tell the fans it could still be positive. The board are all supporters, all Burnley people.

“So there is work being done inside the club and outside the club.

“I’m talking to various people about many different things that affect our club. I think I’ll get an hour off before pre-season! But seriously, I’ll get a couple of breaks and squeeze in a couple of rounds of golf.

“There's usually a cooling off period, usually after the play-offs and through early June before ramping up, but it's a good busy now, a nice busy.”

Burnley have already been linked with a number of players, with former Blackpool midfielder Ludovic Sylvestre the latest yesterday,

Dyche said: “We’ve been linked with everyone immediately, but I can assure you 99 per cent of the names, there has been no contact, no link.

“Agents play their part. The one thing that is true is we have a small squad, it’s not rocket science, we are going to need to add to that squad.

“So if there are any names knocking about, people are going to link them to us, just because of our numbers.”
