YOUNG Blackburn Rovers midfielder Josh Morris has been named the League Two player of the month after an excellent April for promotion-chasing Fleetwood Town.

The on-loan Morris scored two goals in five games as Graham Alexander’s side secured their place in the play-offs.

And Rovers boss Gary Bowyer said he was delighted with the progress Morris is making in League Two.

Bowyer said: “I speak with Graham Alexander and he’s been delighted with Josh and I’m delighted for Josh too.”

Morris has revelled in a central midfield role for Fleetwood.

But the 22-year-old’s five appearances for Rovers this season have come out wide or at left back.

Bowyer added: “He was always a midfielder from when he first arrived in the under 14s.

“He’s been converted into a left back but if you ask him he sees himself doing that job (as a midfielder).

“Josh comes back to us at the end of the season and we’ll take it from there.”

Fleetwood boss Alexander added: “Josh has done great and he is a fantastic lad.

“He has got himself acquainted with the group quickly and he has shown his qualities from day one.

“He has great ability on the ball, he has great awareness about the game of football and he is a very good young professional footballer.

“We are really pleased to have him here and we thank Blackburn Rovers for that.”
