Brentford boss keen on keeping Rovers midfielder Judge

MARK Warburton has confirmed Brentford want to sign on-loan Blackburn Rovers midfielder Alan Judge on a permanent basis.

But Bees boss Warburton has no intention of approaching his Rovers counterpart Gary Bowyer until after this weekend.

Bowyer side’s still have a mathematical chance of making the Championship play-offs going into their final game of the campaign at home to Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

And that is why Warburton, who also wants to complete permanent deals for Chelsea’s George Saville and Fulham’s Marcello Trotta, believes it only right to play a waiting game.

He said: “We want to speak to them about Saville, Trotta, Judge, but at the right time when it’s good for them.

“Those players have done well for us and we’ll have discussions with the clubs and see how the land lies.

“While it’s important to us, we have to recognise what’s going on at other clubs and try and time our discussions with them.”

Judge has been a revelation since signing on loan for Championship-bound Brentford in January.

The 25-year-old has scored six goals in 21 games and it was his match-winning penalty at home to Preston North End on Good Friday that secured the Bees’ promotion from League One behind newly crowned champions Wolves.

Judge is under contract at Rovers until 2016 after signing a three-year deal on rejoining the club from Notts County last summer.

If Judge has been a hit at Brentford we should keep him. How much can Brentford afford? £200,000 or so?
*
I rate Judge for his ability to cross, shoot and make long passes - something different from the pace Marshall, King and Conway have.
*
Keep him and sell Williamson to Brentford.

When judge seemed to be frozen out for one reason or another I thought he was one of the better performers in the squad. He always gives 100% and wore the shirt with pride and commitment. I would like to see him back in the first team instead of Williamson or Taylor who has made very little impact this season.

They can take him for me. We want to be challenging at the very top next season and for that we need excellent championship/premier league quality players. Cairney, Evans, Marshall, Conway fit into that category, judge doesn't. He is decent/average championship quality, not good enough for promotion to the prem.

More seriously - Should be a very interesting close season with so many loan players to return, I would guess any incoming will be based on what you get with the outgoing, especially if the last few transfer windows are anything to go by. Bowyer will need to be shrewd for sure.

Both Conway and Marshall can do what judge does only better. With king and Mahoney I think we have enough. There must be a reason why judge has to keep dropping down to league one.

Of the loan players we have only Keane has been a regular lately. Bowyer needs to concentrate on ridding the club of Best, Campbell, Etuhu and Goodwillie. Sadly Dunny can't really be offered another deal as he is a big earner. If possible go for Keane again for the full season and we are not too far away. Robbo, Lowe/Keane, Killgallon, Hanley, Spurr, King, Cairney, Evans, Conway, Gestede, Rhodes. Backed up by Kean, Henley, Marshall, Taylor, Williamson, Rochina, Judge, Mahoney,

When we have the likes of Lee Williamson in the side, who by the way is a Premiership player in my eyes then we don't need Judge. Hopefully the rumours about Gestede going to Chelsea is just pure speculation, so if we keep him then I believe we will be up there with the Burnley's and Southampton's next season.

I have said many times on here that we have too many same as same as players which means one average game results in yet another team change. This results in people becoming unsettled and nervy and performing at less than their best and not getting the run in the team they need. Cut the squad down and we might just have a little more success. Too many midfielders!

Nothing closet, simply think it could well decide your destiny for the next few seasons, hence me thinking it is interesting.
Personally I would like to have the derby rather than us be in a higher division and start claiming that you haven't beaten us for ten years or so when we have played each other about 4 times, blah blah blah.
