GARY Bowyer wants to reward Blackburn Rovers’ fans further with a final-day victory over Wigan Athletic which could yet see their side sneak into the play-offs.

Before Saturday’s 3-1 win at Charlton members of Rovers’ community department handed out complimentary scarves to the 940 supporters who had made the trip to The Valley.

The scarves were Bowyer’s and his players’ way of thanking the fans for the support they have shown away from home this season.

Now the Rovers boss is hoping to give the Ewood Park faithful the perfect send off with a home win over Wigan on Saturday.

Bowyer said: “It’s been a fantastic effort from the away support.

“All season long they have been right behind us and the numbers they’ve travelled in have been phenomenal.

“Yeovil, Bournemouth, Brighton, they are long trips, and Saturday was the last one – and off the back of Bank Holiday Monday at Birmingham, so it was a massive effort from them.

“It wasn’t just myself, the players wanted to give something back to the supporters.

“We did something similar at Yeovil at Christmas with hats, scarves and footballs and I thought it was a good idea from everybody connected with the club to give something back to the fans.

“The noise they make and the songs they sing, it’s brilliant, so we are delighted we can do something like that.

“It was a good atmosphere and our supporters played their part in that.

“We just hope that they come out next Saturday and we finish it off properly in front of our own fans.”

The win over Charlton moved Rovers up to eighth in the Championship and within three points of fifth-placed Reading and sixth-placed Wigan, who play their game in hand tonight away to Birmingham City.

Kids can get in for a quid for Rovers’ final match of the campaign against the Latics.

Tickets in all areas of the ground, except the Jack Walker Centre, cost £1 for juniors.

Tickets for adults cost between £19 and £29 and tickets for seniors cost between £12 and £25.
