MARKUS Olsson insists his focus is solely on Blackburn Rovers’ must-win final match of the season – and not his own future.

The in-form Rovers left-back is out of contract at the end of a campaign in which he has made just eight appearances.

But when asked whether he thinks about what will happen come the summer, Olsson said: “No, actually I don’t. People ask me that question but I don’t.”

Instead Olsson is concentrating on Saturday’s visit of top-six rivals Wigan Athletic to Ewood Park and helping Rovers get the win they need to stand any chance of making the play-offs.

Gary Bowyer’s resurgent side moved within three points of sixth place with a 3-1 victory at Charlton Athletic at the weekend.

And Olsson said: “It’s going to go down to the last game and we still have a chance.

“We’ve got good confidence in the team and many players in the team are playing well.

“We’re still in there so nobody is thinking negatively.

“Wigan are a good team but so are we and we have been playing well recently so it’s going to be a good game.”

Olsson is set to start Saturday’s clash after producing impressive performances in the wins over Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City.

The Sweden international returned to the Rovers starting line-up after previous ever present Tommy Spurr succumbed to a groin injury.

And Olsson, who had previously made only one league start this season, is relishing the chance to impress.

The full-back said: “It means a lot (to be playing).

“I haven’t been involved so much but I have been involved in the last two good games.

“I think in both games we played very well. We played the ball around the park, finding each other, and everybody was moving around and wanting the ball.”

To finish in the top six Rovers require Brighton & Hove Albion to lose at Nottingham Forest on Saturday as well as beating Wigan – and, in all probability, by a big margin.

But the fact that Rovers have scored 27 goals in their last 11 unbeaten games gives Olsson hope.

The 25-year-old said: “We’ve been creating loads of chances.

“We’ve not been scoring all of them but at least we are creating a lot.

“We’ve scored seven goals in two games, we’re happy with that and we just need to keep going.”

Olsson has made 38 appearances and scored one goal since arriving at Ewood Park from Swedish outfit Halmstads in January 2012. Along with midfielder David Dunn, Olsson is one of two senior Rovers players out of contract in the summer.
