BLACKBURN Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has urged his players to take no regrets into the summer by winning their final two matches of the season.

Rovers clawed their way back into the play-off race with a 4-2 victory at Birmingham City on Monday, which extended their unbeaten run to 10 games.

But realistically they need to take maximum points from tomorrow’s trip to relegation-threatened Charlton and the visit of high-flying Wigan Athletic to Ewood Park on Saturday week if they are to snatch sixth place.

And Bowyer, who is set to be boosted by the return of Tom Cairney, Michael Keane and Lee Williamson tomorrow, said: “All we can do is look after ourselves and, if the ones above us in sixth spot mess up, we are not regretful.

“We need to make sure we do our job properly – and that’s the most important thing for us.

“Charlton are fighting for their lives so they need the points as much as we do so it’s going to be a tough game.

“But our form of late has been excellent and to go to the places that we have been to and scored as many goals as we have done has been very pleasing.

“Now we have to reproduce that.”

Rovers have scored 16 goals in their last six matches on the road.

In English football’s top five divisions only Premier League leaders Liverpool, with 20, have netted more goals over the same period of time away from home.

However Rovers have also conceded 16 in their last six games on their travels and Bowyer admits they have to get the balance right.

“There have been times when the back four and the goalkeeper have been magnificent,” said Bowyer, whose side have lost just one of their last nine away trips, winning three and drawing five.

“Middlesbrough away for example, where they stood firm in the face of an onslaught and got us a clean sheet.

“It’s just the consistency and piecing it all together. We seem to be able to do either or so we’ve just got to make sure we come together on that.”

Midfielders Cairney and Williamson and defender Keane are expected to return to the Rovers squad for tomorrow’s clash with Charlton after they recovered from knocks which ruled them out against Birmingham.

Winger Ben Marshall, who has been sidelined for three months with ankle-ligament damage, could also be included in the travelling party after he yesterday took part in a full training session.

However left-back Tommy Spurr (groin) and midfielders David Dunn (calf) and Jason Lowe (ankle) are struggling.

Midfielder Dickson Etuhu (hamstring) and right-back Adam Henley (ankle) remain sidelined.
