BURNLEY will wear a special replica shirt in tomorrow’s final home game of the season against Ipswich to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Clarets’ FA Cup win.
Burnley defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the 1914 Cup final at Crystal Palace thanks to a Bert Freeman goal 100 years ago today and the Clarets will mark the occasion with the special strip.
The shirt, which will not be available for fans to buy beacuse it uses the Royal Coat of Arms instead of the Clarets’ badge, has been specially commissioned.
Permission was sought from Buckingham Palace for the club to use the special crest.
The names of manager, John Haworth and the squad from the 1914 triumph are also marked on the shirt in the bottom left hand corner.
The club will host an auction for each shirt worn on their website next week.
The 1914 exhibition at Towneley Hall continues to run until next month.
