SEAN Dyche is confident that Burnley will get the wins they need to achieve automatic promotion, providing they keep delivering performances as good as Saturday’s.

The Clarets boss was baffled by the defeat to Middlesbrough, given their dominance in possession and in attack, with 27 shots and 14 corners recorded.

Boro scored with a breakaway goal from a corner, meaning Burnley go into the Good Friday derby with Blackpool facing the same scenario as they did at the weekend. A win, and anything less for Derby County, will secure a place in the Premier League.

But, as ever, the possibilities will not dominate their preparations. For Dyche and his players, their focus is on the task in hand and then dealing with the outcome, whatever it may be.

“Our mantra, our focus is exactly the same. Win, lose or draw our mantra stays the same, it’s one game at a time,” said the Clarets boss, who was enthused and encouraged by his side’s display, despite suffering back-to-back home defeats for the first time under his Turf Moor watch.

“It’s a positive loss. Football’s an amazing thing, that’s why we love it. But one thing’s for sure, our performance level was very high again.

“We take that mentality, that energy, that quality into the next one. Whatever happens we take it into the next one.

“We’e set that bar high. If we keep performing like that, every week, each game that comes – the next one’s Blackpool away – I can assure you there will be wins coming.”

But, although now eight points clear in second place, Dyche still will not allow himself of his players to entertain talk of promotion.

“It still is that clear mantra, one game at a time, so we'll be focusing on the next one,” he said.

After welcoming back Dean Marney from suspension and Danny Ings from injury against Barnsley last Tuesday, Kieran Trippier returned to the side on Saturday.

Barring long-term injury victim Sam Vokes, Burnley have a fully fit squad for the finale.

Of Vokes, Ben Mee added: “Sam had his operation the other day and we all wished him well.”
