What areas of the field to do you think Rovers have to try to address in the summer?

GARY Bowyer has done wonders to reduce the age of the squad and increase its quality, yet there’s still work to be done to ensure we are a force in the Championship.

Fully fit, we are strongest on the wings with Craig Conway and Ben Marshall, with good cover in Josh King, Alan Judge and Chris Taylor. I’d look to buy a right back who likes to overlap, a goalkeeper who is not demanding the same wage as Paul Robinson, a central midfielder who will carry the ball and run at people and cover at centre-back.

Two players to scout would be Adam Smith, right back at Bournemouth, and George Saville, a midfielder on loan at Brentford from Chelsea.

KELVIN WILKINS

I WOULD like to see Rovers get some more big earners off the wage bill and use a small amount of it to invest in the youth programme and lower-division prospects.

There are a lot of good players on our books and only the right back position would be a major problem if everyone was fit.

The current seven-match unbeaten run includes four results against teams higher than us.

I’d like to see this consistency continued and used as a springboard for 2014-15.

SIMON SMITH

This depends on us keeping our best players and building for the future rather than fire-fighting all the time.

If we lost Jordan Rhodes, for example, then we would not achieve top-six status.

The back four lack consistency and an ability to read the game. Priorities would be a new full back and a goalkeeper who is more than a shot-stopper.

As yet the manager has failed to mould the individual players, talented or otherwise, into a real team capable of putting a run of victories together. Hopefully, with time the squad will mature and fulfil its supposed potential.

Very representative sample of Rovers fans there, Wilkins and Smith looking forward with some intelligent thoughtful suggestions, and Paul dangerous Yates with a dose of pessimism, a moan and a dig at the manager.

LOL, just about sums it up, I reckon I will be dead before Yates has anything positive to say about Rovers, he probably slagged them off when they won the PL.

It's obvious, not rocket science, we need to hang on to our best players, the core of the team, invest in an experienced right back to balance the defence if we do that irrespective of FFP we will be up there next season.

And ask JC Rishton and Dangerous Dave to manage the team in their spare time on an ad hoc basis.

Under their guidance we will win every game 10 nil and be promoted by the end of November, Simples.

As for the latter comments, yes I am happy and have had a little drinkypoos!

Off topic, but just read Karl Oyston taking the blame for Blackpools plight, well done Karl, I won't hold my breathe for a similar statement from India.

I must admit I agree wholeheartedly with Mr Yates It's not just the few last results. Bowyer should be judged on the season his failures to wrap games up when in winning positions and his negative approach at times may-be questionable but on the brighter side we have come back to gain draws in the dying seconds of the game in recent matches and there are signs to see improvements so let's hope it dosen't come crashing down this weekend.
Onwards and upwards.

you do make yourself look a bigger 'pr--k' than ever with some of your comments obviously of low intelligence!!
The poster just stating that it was refreshing to see the owner of a club come forth with a statement of accepting some responsibility for the plight of his club - unlike our owners who havent admitted to any blame for dismantling a once famous club and leaving it in a state of turmoil - dont even bother to turn up and support the team or shower of a Management Structure that they have put in place and they say (quote) its their 'baby'!!

I was talking to the organ grinder not the monkey.

It's a rhetorical question Dave. nothing more.

Personally I have little or no interest in any other club apart from Rovers, I don't care if Oyston can whistle Dixie out of his backside.

Personally I don't care if Venky's never set foot in this country again, let alone Ewood as long as they continue to support the club financially, which incidentally is something that Oyston has failed miserably to do with Blackpool.

If you are waiting for Venky's to apologise I sincerely hope you can hold you breath until Hell freezes over because it's a cultural issue, it won't happen.

As for them not turning up put yourself in their position, would you fly thousands of miles to a cold, uninviting environment and have the natives scream obscenities at you for 90 minutes?

I wouldn't, I would cut my losses, pull the plug and walk away.

Which is what I suspect Oyston is preparing to do at Blackpool.

IF we lose Rhodes? It should have read WHEN we lose him. If anybody thinks Rhodes isn't itching to play in the premier league then they are deluded. If we get promotion, which I think is a tall order, he will stay. But if we don't then I'm sure he will go. I hope I'm wrong but that's what I've been told from within Ewood.

He'll be gone by next January IF and its a big IF any pl team is prepared to pay the premiership fee for a championship player.

Personally I think we have more chance of losing him to a bigger club if we get promoted than if we don't. Sounds odd but who wants to pay 10m for a player whose never proven himself in the Premiership?

I'm as bothered about losing Rhodes right now as Dingle Dave is about us not getting promoted thus forcing him to find something else to moan about.
