FORMER Burnley chief scout Dave Blakey has died at the age of 84.
As a player the former centre half spent all of his career with Chesterfield, making more than 650 appearances for the Spireites in all competitions.
This was despite a five-year wait for a regular first team place as a result of National Service.
After retiring at the end of the 1966/67 season Blakey became a football scout, working for Burnley in the 1970s. Brian Flynn was one of his finds.
Blakey also worked under Don Revie at Leeds United.
