Colne 3 Stockport Sports 2

Colne snatched all three points with a late comeback against Stockport Sports at the XLCR Stadium. The Reds took an early lead when Tom Berwick slotted home Brandon Barski’s cross. And Colne maintained their lead at half time after an end-to-end first half.

Two minutes after the interval, Stockport were reduced to ten men when Tom Bane was sent off for a two-footed tackle. And six minutes later, Chris Anderson doubled Colne’s lead with a curling free kick just inside the far post.

When it seemed that Colne would cruise to a comfortable win, Stockport reduced the deficit after 66 minutes when Alex Crowe blasted an unstoppable free kick past a helpless Chris Thompson. Eleven minutes later, Stockport were on level terms when Crowe’s free kick caused problems in the Colne goalmouth and Paul Walley bundled the ball into the net.

But Stockport were reduced to nine men after 82 minutes when Jordan Young was sent off for dissent and Colne put the visitors goal under pressure in the closing stages. In the last of the 90minutes, Anderson’s jinking run into the Stockport penalty area was halted by a mistimed tackle and Berwick blasted home the spot kick to given Colne a dramatic late winner.

Colne’s next game is on Wednesday evening when they welcome Glossop NE to the XLCR Stadium with a 7.45pm kick off.
