BLACKBURN Rovers will be boosted by the return of Tom Cairney for Saturday’s trip to Championship basement boys Millwall.

The midfielder has missed the last six matches with an ankle injury sustained in the 1-0 win at Reading on February 22.

But Rovers boss Gary Bowyer confirmed after Tuesday’s 3-3 draw at Watford that Cairney will return to his squad for the Lions clash providing he comes through training today and tomorrow.

Bowyer, whose side are eight points behind the play-off places with nine games to play, is also hopeful winger Josh King will be fit after he missed out against the Hornets due to a back problem.

Bowyer said: “Tom will be back involved at the weekend as long as he goes okay Thursday and Friday.

“Josh King has had a bit of a back spasm so he missed out on Tuesday but we’re expecting him to come back into it.”

Captain Grant Hanley was an unused substitute against Watford after sitting out three matches with a hamstring injury.

And Bowyer said: “We’re disappointed not to be going to Millwall on the back of an impressive away win at Watford but we’ve got bodies coming back, competition is good, and we’ve got to finish as strong as we possibly can and see how far that takes us.”
