BLACKBURN Rovers have been warned their superb showing against leaders Leicester City will count for little if they fail to follow it up at fellow play-off outsiders Watford tomorrow.

Gary Bowyer was delighted with the way his side performed in Saturday’s thrilling 1-1 home draw with the table-topping Foxes.

But after praising their display the Rovers boss immediately set them the challenge of replicating it at fortress Vicarage Road where Watford have won six successive matches without conceding a goal.

Bowyer said: “We’ve got to kick on now, we can’t rest on our laurels.

“We can’t go to Watford thinking we’ve done it just because we’ve drawn with the league leaders.

“We have to go there with the same mentality that we showed on Saturday and try and get something.”

Rovers are now nine points behind the play-off places albeit with a game in hand on sixth-placed Reading.

But Bowyer believes they will go into the final 10 matches of the campaign with confidence high after going close to ending Leicester’s three-month unbeaten run.

“I thought it was one hell of a game from start to finish,” said Bowyer.

“The two teams really went at it and didn’t stop. It was a fully entertaining game for the neutral, there were chances galore at both ends, but we were disappointed we didn’t take one or two of ours.

“But I think on reflection a draw was probably a fair result.

“I thought we were excellent throughout the game but in particular the first 15 minutes of the second half we were tremendous.

“We ran the league leaders close so we can take a lot of confidence and a lot of belief from that.”

Bowyer’s pleasure was tempered by the injury sustained by recalled right-back Adam Henley.

The youngster was stretchered off late on after going over on his ankle when trying to block a cross from marauding Leicester left-back Jeff Schlupp.

Bowyer had no plans to re-enter the market before the emergency loan window closes on Thursday, but if Henley’s injury is proved serious he may attempt to sign cover.

Todd Kane is expected to start at right-back against Watford tomorrow as midfielder Jason Lowe – who played there in the 4-2 win at Huddersfield Town last Saturday – is nursing an ankle injury of his own.

Bowyer also has the option of moving on-loan ace Michael Keane from centre back to right back once captain Grant Hanley fully recovers from a hamstring problem.

“Grant has done some light training but it would have been a gamble to put him in on Saturday,” said Bowyer.

“We felt he could do with a couple days more training while Lowey just wasn’t fit.”
