ASHLEY Barnes scored his first goal for Burnley in their development squad victory at Stoke yesterday afternoon.
The Clarets faced Stoke at the Potters’ training ground in a behind closed doors friendly specially arranged to provide match practice for a number of Sean Dyche’s first-team squad.
Barnes was named in the starting line-up, as the Clarets claimed a 3-0 win over their Premier League opponents. Others to feature including Ross Wallace, Junior Stanislas, Keith Treacy, David Edgar, Kevin Long, Danny Lafferty and Alex Cisak.
Stanislas and young midfielder Nathan Lowe both netted before Barnes added a third goal to open his account for the Clarets.
Barnes joined Burnley from Brighton in January but the form of strike duo Danny Ings and Sam Vokes has so far restricted him to only seven substitute appearances and a combined total of 65 minutes.
The Potters handed 45 minutes in defence to German international Robert Huth, who was making his return from injury, while on-loan John Guidetti – an ex-Clarets forward – also featured.
Burnley will also travel to Blackpool tomorrow for another friendly.
Burnley: Cisak, Lafferty, Anderson (Coleman 45), Long, Dummigan, Edgar, Hewitt (Love 45), Treacy, Stanislas, Wallace, Barnes.
