BLACKBURN Rovers have to go into tomorrow’s game at Reading looking to win rather than playing for the draw.

It is a massive game and is certainly one they cannot afford to lose but you cannot go into the game with that mentality otherwise you will get beaten.

It is always a tough place to go and it will be tough tomorrow. Reading are scoring goals for fun at the moment and Rovers will have to be at their best but I am confident they can come away with a result.

For me, they have to play two up front and be positive. Reading play quite open football so Rovers will get their chances and it is then all about taking them.

Rovers have played quite well in recent weeks and if you start to change the system and play with just one striker it can have a negative impact on the team.

They can’t be too cavalier and really need to contain the game for the first half-hour and soak up Reading pressure and get the home crowd on their backs.

Reading have scored seven and five recently at home so there will be a lot of expectation from the home fans and if Rovers can frustrate the crowd they can go on and win.

If they get through to half-time in the game it will open up in the second half and Rovers can get the points.

With players like Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede in the side there will always be goals.

It was a huge surprise to me that Jordan was not in the Scotland squad. He is a big player for Rovers and he scores goals.

It could be good news for Rovers though as it is one less game for him and one less game to get injured in!

He hasn’t had much luck when he has been with the Scotland squad before and quite often has had to pull out so maybe that has had a bearing on Gordon Strachan’s thinking.
