SAM Vokes and Danny Ings go back to their first club for the first time as opposition players, but Vokes insists nostalgia will wait until after the final whistle.

“Going into the game, you don’t really think about that, and try to get the win,” said Vokes, below, who left Bournemouth out of necessity for the sake of the club’s dwindling finances at the time, in 2008.

“We both left at a young age, I was 18, and I think Danny was around that age as well.

“I don’t think either of us have been back to play there before.

“It’s been a few years, but it’ll be good to go back.

“I’m not really emotional, but I suppose, if you look at the bigger picture, it can be, but it’s just another game, you want to go down there and get the three points.

“There’s a lot of changes since I was there, but it is a club close to my heart personally.”

Both were signed at Burnley by Eddie Howe, who returned for a second spell in charge of Bournemouth last season and guided them to promotion from League One.

It is only this season, though, under Sean Dyche, that the pair have gone on to form a formidable partnership – the best in the Championship.

“Last season I was in and out the side, and we never really worked together as a partnership, but this season it seemed to click and it’s been working since,” said Vokes, whose 40-goal partnership (so far) is beyond his wildest dreams.

“Against Millwall away last season we both got on the scoresheet.

“But it’s really seemed to work this season.”
