A BLACKBURN Rovers side featuring Lucas Neill, Corry Evans and Bryan Dabo twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur in tonight’s U21s Premier League clash at Leigh Sports Village.

Spurs took the lead in the 39th minute when a free kick into the box was only partially cleared and Ruben Lameiras sent a sweetly stuck left-footed shot in off the post from 20 yards.

That was the way it stayed until nine minutes from time when Dean Rittenberg combined with fellow substitute Will Beesley to equalise.

Beesley did brilliantly to thread a pass through to Rittenberg and the England U18s new boy did the rest, sliding a cool left-footed finish under the advancing Jordan Archer to register his first goal at U21s level.

But three minutes later Spurs went back in front as Shaquile Coulthirst turned in a Laste Dombaxe free kick in at the near post.

Three minutes after that, however, parity was restored.

A free kick from Connor Mahoney caused chaos in the box and Aaron Tumwa was credited with getting the goal that ended Rovers’ four-match losing run in all competitions.

Fit-again Evans lasted just over an hour in his first game back following nearly four months on the sidelines with ankle-ligament damage.

But fellow midfielder Dabo and defender Neill played the full 90 minutes.

Dabo operated just off the main striker and showed some flashes off promise while Neill partnered Ryan Edwards in the centre of the defence and produced an accomplished captain.

The Australia captain has been training with Rovers – the club he served between 2001 and 2007 – since December.

And the match gave watching first-team boss Gary Bowyer the chance to see free agent Neill, 35, in competitive action.
