BLACKBURN Rovers striker David Goodwillie is tomorrow expected to sign for Championship rivals Blackpool on loan until the end of the season.

Barry Ferguson has been tasked with strengthening the Seasiders’ squad ahead of being named the club’s new player-manager following Paul Ince’s sacking.

And former Rovers midfielder Ferguson is set to make fellow Scotsman Goodwillie one of his first additions.

Goodwillie only returned to Ewood Park on January 13 after spending six months on loan at his first club Dundee United.

The 24-year-old, who scored six goals in 22 matches for the Tannadice Park outfit, was named in Rovers’ squad for Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

But he did not make it off the bench and Gary Bowyer has agreed to let Goodwillie go back out on loan.

Goodwillie’s last appearance for Rovers was the 1-1 draw at Birmingham City on the final day of last season.

The Scotland international, a £2m arrival from Dundee United in August 2011, has made just 10 starts for the club and an additional 24 appearances off the bench, scoring five goals.

Blackpool visit Ewood Park on Saturday week.

But under the terms of the deal Goodwillie will be ineligible to face Rovers.
