BLACKBURN Rovers defender Yann Songo’o made his debut for Scottish Premiership strugglers Ross County on Saturday - and immediately targeted a place at the World Cup.

Songo'o has joined Ross on loan until the end of the season and the 22-year-old wants to follow in the footsteps of his father by playing for Cameroon in the World Cup this year.

Jacques Songo’o played in goal for Cameroon at the 1998 World Cup.

“My father is such an inspirational figure for me,” said Songo'o, who has previously represented his country at the Under 20s World Cup.

“He is a legend in Cameroon.

“I would like to do the same and my aim is now to try and play in the World Cup this summer.”
