LONG-awaited plans to overhaul Burnley’s training ground are scheduled to begin in early 2014.
Architects working on behalf of the club say work on revamping the Clarets’ Gawthorpe base should begin in the first quarter of next year.
Proposals to construct a new indoor training pitch were given planning permission in November 2010 but have been on the back burner for some time.
The pitch and a refurbished clubhouse will help nurture young players and provide improved facilties for the first team.
Extra changing rooms for the first team and youth set-ups, a physio room, gym, staff offices, meeting space and kitchen were all envisaged as part of the original project.
Now with the board having ‘bought back’ Turf Moor and Gawthorpe, the plans looks set to proceed, with a 30-week development phase leading to a late-2014 opening.
