Cairney could move to Ewood

Lancashire Telegraph: Cairney could move to Ewood Cairney could move to Ewood

HULL City boss Steve Bruce is prepared to let Tom Cairney join Blackburn Rovers on a permanent basis – as long as a fee can be agreed.

The Tigers say they have rejected Rovers’ initial bid for the midfielder, who has impressed since moving to Ewood Park on loan in August.

Cairney’s loan deal expires after the New Year’s Day trip to Leeds United but Rovers are attempting to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent basis.

The player has also said he would be happy to stay at Rovers, but much depended on whether Bruce wanted Cairney to return to the KC Stadium for the second half of the season.

The Hull boss has now intimated, however, that he will allow Cairney and former Rovers loanee Cameron Stewart to seek regular football elsewhere.

Cairney has only six months to run on his contract with Hull and, speaking about Rovers’ interest yesterday, Bruce said: “I’m sure negotiations will be ongoing.”

Agree - nothing personal against CH but if we need to reduce our wage bill then why do we have a coach (reputedly) earning £400,000 per year ? - its complete madness and totally out of proportion to normal wages for coaches at this level.

Also, why do Venkys continue to employ that complete fukwit SS, also on a reputed £400,000 per year and although that money is paid from Venkys, India rather than Venkys, London (Rovers) that £400,000 could be much better spent reducing our financial deficit - that would be the ONLY posative contribution that SS has ever made to BRFC !!

Also, we do need to sign Cairney but didnt the LT just report that the loons from Pune have just told GB that he needs to sell before he can buy but now we're told Rovers are trying to buy TC before we sell.

Typical mixed messages coming out from the Rovers heirarchy yet again !

Venkys will just have to shell out and face the consequences if they want him. We can only be penalised once by FFP, as others have said, and we are going to be anyway. It's whether Venkys want to stump up or not, that's the problem.
the 'dead wood' will be gone as and when their contracts are up. Venkys arrogance and incompetence is costing them dearly.

Don't forget, there's a negotiation going on here but Hull really need to make this deal go through too.

If they don't help Cairney get a decent move and he sits tight, they will have to let him go free at the end of season, then they lose out completely.

You are missing a key point;

Hendry is on a contract, what he is being paid is irrelevant if he is doing the job stipulated in that contract, and I doubt it's "Kean's driver" because Kean isn't here anymore.

If he is sacked it is likely that he will be entitled to compensation, if he is sacked without due cause not only will he be entitled to compensation there could also be a case for unfair dismissal.

So there ain't going to be much hard cash freed up there.

Or have you forgotten Henning Berg?

Venky's will find the money for Cairney, a bit more debt at this stage doesn't really matter anymore when you think about it.

Don't forget we will already be paying a sizeable chunk of Cairney's salary anyway.

Whatever your opinion on Big Col is, ther is no arguing that his footballing experience is top class and I am glad we have him on the staff at the Rovers. BTW that 400k per annum salary that keeps mentioned is pure rubbish, its not even a quarter of that figure.

Does ANYONE at Deadwood understand the Financial Fair Play rules and the consequences of not adhering to them?

Or do you just think that they apply to everyone else and somehow you are exempt?

Unbelievable that you should even be considering another signing. But in the whacky world of Wovers / Venkys anything is possible.

I think the key word here is "reputedly"… I don't think any sensible person believes that either CH or SS are on anything like these salaries. The Cairney decision will be an interesting test of the Venky commitment. Whilst they could hold out for six months in the hope of stealing him on a free transfer, we also run the risk of him going elsewhere. The dream move would be a straight swop for Best.

Whatever your opinion on Big Col is, ther is no arguing that his footballing experience is top class and I am glad we have him on the staff at the Rovers. BTW that 400k per annum salary that keeps mentioned is pure rubbish, its not even a quarter of that figure.
Hendry quote. "Steve KEAN" is doing a great job at Rovers and the majority of the fans are behind him , a week later KEAN gives Hendry a job as defensive coach on 8,000 pounds a week, and the facts are it is Eric Kinder who is doing a good job with the kids apparently Hendry is never there at training. Well Darener, I hate to say it but Mr Tan almost makes Venkys look wise and circumspect in all their dealings ( almost!)

FFP is a system designed to keep clubs like Rovers on low crowds out of the Premier League and improve the chances of city clubs like Leeds & Forest of getting promotion. It gives them an advantage as they are allowed to spend more money by virtue of having bigger gates and being selected for live TV broadcasts more frequently.

How anybody cannot see what is going on is beyond me.

Make no mistake about it, January will see more heavy spending from the likes of QPR, Leeds, Forest and co.

Why should they be allowed to keep on spending but Rovers not?

If Venkys want to throw money at it that's their entitlement as owners of the club. Just imagine someone coming to your house and telling you that you're not allowed to spend any more money on repairs and improvements.
