Blackburn Rovers v Millwall: Player ratings

Lancashire Telegraph: Jordan Rhodes got eight out of 10 Jordan Rhodes got eight out of 10

WHAT were your Blackburn Rovers player ratings for Saturday's 3-2 victory over Millwall?

Rovers reporter Paul Wheelock gives his ratings for the game below.

Paul Wheelock's ratings:

Simon Eastwood 6: Should have done better with Steve Morison’s goal but redeemed himself with a brilliant injury-time stop from the same player.

Adam Henley 6: Could not replicate his outstanding display against QPR but was up against a tricky winger in Martyn Woolford.

Scott Dann 7: Had his hands full with Millwall’s lively front pairing and was unable to help Rovers keep a second straight clean sheet.

Grant Hanley 7: His long ball set-up Jordan Rhodes’ opener and his header led to David Dunn scoring Rovers’ crucial third goal.

Tommy Spurr 8: Kept Liam Feeney quiet and it was from his inviting left-wing cross that Ben Marshall headed Rovers back in front.

Josh King 7: Carried the fight for Rovers in the second half down the left flank after ending the first half up top alongside Rhodes.

Jason Lowe 6: Lee Williamson’s injury meant he had to play a more disciplined role which prevented him from getting forward as much.

Tom Cairney 7: Had a hand in both of Rovers’ second-half goals and forced David Forde into the first save of the match from a free kick.

Chris Taylor 6: Former Millwall man burst into life after a quiet first half, drawing a super save from David Forde after playing a one-two with Marshall.

Ben Marshall 8: Responded to his manager’s pre-match challenge to build on his performance against QPR by scoring his first goal for the club.

Jordan Rhodes 8: Struck a wonderful opener and capped a hard-working display by laying the ball on a plate for Dunn to head home.

i think a 6 for Henley was a bit kind. he had a mare! but hes a young player and hes shown in the past that hes better than that. Hopefully he'll learn from it.

I think this score system should be brought back by the LT it does create debate, everyone has different opinions after a match and sometimes you think have I been to the same match, bring it on weekly.

Taking the conditions into consideration I tend to agree with Paul's assessment although I would give Eastwood an extra point, that save late on was exceptional, it certainly protected two points for us.

Have to disagree. From where I was sitting and when you watch the 1st goal again the only reason it went in was Eastwood himself. The initial shot was going to go wide. Also the 3rd goal was Eastwoods error, he was in no mans land. I think a 6 is quite generous considering he gave 2 goals away. Agreed he made a great save but apart from that mistakes where made.

No way would I give Marshall an 8. Rhodes was man of the match by quite a way.

IMO Marshall isn't good enough for this team. He has excellent delivery but every other aspect of his game is poor. The main downside is his total lack of pace, for a winger it's a big problem.

Taking the conditions into consideration was certainly not something Scott Dann could be accused of, his distribution was abysmal. I lost count of the number of times he launched the ball into the crowd when trying to find our wingers. 5 at best.

Marking systems are relative to your starting point. When marking, bear in mind the players you are marking are average at best - and some are way below that.

Must be difficult to judge when you don't go to games but I'm still expecting some kind of binary from you and Dave :-)

The comment about the first goal is a little unfair, as an ex goalie I would never let a ball go past me on my outside when I was at the near post, because I didn't know who was behind me, and having seen it a couple of times on TV now I wouldn't like to bet it was going wide, he got in the way and it went in off him as he tried to stop it.

I couldn't tell at the game because I was on the other side of the ground.

But I do quite like the idea of a thread like this lol.

The new journo is a breath of fresh air,he certainly puts some effort in.
Agreed,good idea this feature.
On their first goal,i thought he did well to get anywhere near it.
On the mom,i too thought Marshall deserved it.
