BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche has attempted to play down the significance of Saturday’s top of the table clash at Leicester City – insisting that it is ‘just another game’.

The Clarets make the trip to the King Power Stadium having deposed Leicester at the top of the Championship with a 1-0 win over Barnsley at the weekend.

The match takes place at 12.15pm in front of the Sky Sports cameras but Dyche insists the game is not the be all and end all of the Clarets’ promotion hopes.

“They are all big games,” he said.

“People might look at it as a six-pointer, I just look at it as another big game.

“These games are important anyway in any season, whether it’s Burnley going to the so-called big clubs with the stadiums and the fanbase or clubs coming to us.

“I think every game’s a big game for different reasons. They’re all important, they all have a different meaning but the purpose is the same and that’s to get the win and another three points.

“Points are points. I’m happy wherever they come from.”

Leicester – managed by Nigel Pearson – have lost their last two games at Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton, dropping down to third below QPR at the weekend.

“Leicester have had those two awkward results,” Dyche said.

“We know that can happen and we know how tough the Championship is. Nigel (Pearson) does as well of course.

“I’ve been happy with our consistency, the performances have been good.

“You can’t guarantee every game’s a win, although we’ve made a good fist of it so far that’s for sure with only two losses.

“The performances are the key indicators.

“On the whole, other than probably the first 25 minutes at Millwall and the first half at Huddersfield – even on Saturday against Barnsley we huffed and puffed a bit but we never looked in trouble.

“Mostly I’ve been happy with the performances.”

Celtic are now being linked with an interest in Clarets striker Danny Ings, who is also reported to have been monitored by Liverpool.

Charlie Austin was tracked by Celtic during his Burnley days, and the SPL club may look to bolster their strike force in January after selling Gary Hooper to Norwich in August.

Leicester have become the latest club to be linked with a move for out of contract forward Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who is training with Wolves after being released by the Molineux men but is not under contract, after reports previously suggested Burnley could be interested.
