Unclear if DJ will be training with Rovers

Lancashire Telegraph: DJ Campbell DJ Campbell

IT remains unclear whether DJ Campbell will be in attendance when the Blackburn Rovers players return to training this morning after a day off.

Campbell was among six people – five of them footballers – arrested on Sunday by police probing spot-fixing allegations in football matches and later bailed until April 2014.

Campbell did not train at Brockhall on Tuesday.

Instead his representatives were in talks with Rovers and the club’s lawyers over the striker’s future.

Rovers have also been in contact with the Football Association this week.

It has been reported that the FA could order the suspension of Campbell and the four other footballers arrested until the spot-fixing investigation has run its course.

But last night the FA was unable to comment when asked by the Lancashire Telegraph.

Professional Footballers’ Association assistant chief executive Simon Barker – a Rovers fans’ favourite in his playing days – has warned players they must sound the alarm if they suspect any form of fixing.

“We would say to players if you hear of any information or you are approached then make sure you protect yourself by telling somebody at the club or the players’ union or speak to the FA,” said Barker, who made 208 appearances and scored 41 goals for Rovers between 1982 and 1988.

Better off without Campbell anyway.
He has show nohing so far for whatever reason and I would prefer giving Gestede a go. Campbell and Rhodes will never work, Rhodes would be much better with someone whom might be interested in putting in a shift. Hopefully Saturday we might see the required changes to get us the goals we need.

It should be out of the question for Campbell to train with the rest of the squad. Even if there is a slight suspicion amongst the rest of the players that Campbell has been cheating, it will affect their mentality. Imagine how players who give 100% week in week out to try and win football matches would feel if they suspect one of the team has been getting himself sent off intentionally and costing those who actually want to win.

Campbell should not train with Rovers until things are sorted out one way or the other, then appropriate action can be taken if necessary.

I agree, apart from being injured, getting sent off or being booked, Campbell has contributed nothing since his arrival. IF the allegations are true, it's despicable that this should happen through pure greed, and shows he feels nothing for the club and team mates. It's all speculation at the moment though. He may be innocent.

unclear if this chap trains with the squad or not - ridiculous - even if his contract states we have to pay him he should be suspended and told to keep away from the training ground/ewood park and the rest of the players pending the outcome of police investigations this is what would happen to you or I but these guys think they are above the law or anything else for that matter - so come on Rovers show for once that the club has a little integrity left !

Campbell suspended, Best not good enough and wanting away, Rhodes on his way in January and Rudy "the hat" Gesticulate returning to his parent club after a couple of cameo's. Net debts of £56 million, and losing £3 million every month. Doesn't bode well for the second half of the season.

What next for Laughingstock FC?

I think the most surprising thing in the whole DJ Campbell controversy is that only ONE Blackburn player was attempting to throw matches - Rovers have been playing like the entire squad is guilty of the same.

Disgraceful that we are even talking about this. They should be moving faster than this.

It's obvious from how quickly the authorities reacted that they knew or suspected that he was going to get booked if he played against Ipswich.

Even if he isn't eventually found guilty he can't be associated with the day to day activities of the club, on and off the pitch until that happens, because the mud will stick and everyone at the club will be tainted.

If they have to pay him, fine, and if he isn't guilty we can all apologise later, but I for one don't want so see him anywhere near the club until then.

It isn't good for the rest of the team to let this rumble on. He hasn't contributed anything positive to the team since he arrived therefore I don't think he will be missed if he doesn't play. Best on the other hand has a lot to offer the team strange attitude or not he is the one player that can bring another dimension to the forward line that others don't as we seem more balanced when he is playing. Time to sort this out Gary We need to start winning.

Once again the grammar brigade are out in force because they have nothing else left to say given that their football club is imploding with one disaster after the next. It's getting such that each day brings a new shame on the club that was once known as Blackburn Rovers but has now been re-branded 'Laughingstock FC'.

It truly is hilarious watching you feeble turds scramble for something to cling on to, you really are a pitiful bunch of wet f@rts.

And here's another specimen, sticking up for his cross-dressing boyfriend again. You limp-wristed, glove-wearing, deep-heat probing j!zzstain. Get a life you petty little b@llbag.

The shame of being a Rovers fan must be overpowering.

"Foxy, give him the glove" !

You couldn't make this stuff up! What an absolute shambles of a football club.

Spot fixing charges brought against a player and now fingering charges brought against a youth coach.... Blackburn Rovers truly are a disgrace to our fine sport.
stooping a bit low there aren't we, this incident has nothing to do with Rovers, it happened in the eighties at stoke and also this is a pending case so keep your pant filling poison to yourselves
Sounds like someone else has been on the receiving end of "the glove"...

Only you were a willing participant weren't you Mungo... I can just see you led on that physio table begging for your turn. You filthy animal.
Don't you mean 'laid' you uneducated six fingered shell suit wearing sister bothering inbred Rovers obsessed mouth breather? Instead of spending your benefits on cider, buy yourself a thesaurus and have someone read it for you. Gimp.

15 points.
Didn't realise we were keeping score, or that you could actually count. As for having something to "cling on to" and "getting a life" , I think you'll find I usually have better things to do than comment on your inane drivel, work for example, something you'd know precious little about. As it's you who regularly comments first on most of the Rovers related articles on this site, perhaps your advice to "get a life" is better followed by you.

Game, set, match.

Pant-filled poison? You rascal! You are a patent scallywag! May I suggest that you take your own advice and keep your own bile-pile postings to a minimum? You'll find that Mummy will be far less angry with you and that your urge to rub your groin when out in public will subside. I hope Rovers do well on Saturday. Can't have you battling to stay up that would never do. Te he he he....

Keep your end up etc and give my regards to the Myth Master.

Cheerio

PS I do apologise, I forgot. Loser.

To be honest, I think most rovers fans want his head on a platter.

After everything we have been through over last three years, this was not needed.

Inter-related meaning gaff, old boy. You can be pompous without there being a qualification as to mediocrity. Never mind. Good try! Apology accepted by the way; I will work hard to earn your pleasure through the Stalking of your join-at-the-groin love interest, Mr Fake.

And you qualify for an upgrade too!! (Generous eh?) You're now Mr Myth.

I'm not defending or attacking Peter Fox but he has been the subject of a very serious allegation, obviously he wasn't at Blackburn at the time so it isn't a matter for BRFC but as part of his job will involve working with youngsters, the club can't be too careful, if indeed he did carry out this depraved act it should be dealt with and it wouldn't be appropriate if he manages to stay out of prison (which he probably will given the judges we have in this country) for him to remain in a position of trust, I doubt if the club could suspend him on full pay pending a full investigation as the incident is alleged to have taken place at Stoke City but a spot of 'Gardening leave' might be apt and if he's convicted his position will surely be untenable, I wouldn't want to support a club that claims to be family friendly while employing someone who thinks sexual assault on teenagers is a bit of banter.
