Kevin Gallacher column: Business as usual for Blackburn Rovers squad

Lancashire Telegraph: DJ Campbell DJ Campbell

I DON’T think it will be hard for the Rovers players to prepare for Saturday’s game against Millwall.

Yes, the allegations that DJ Campbell has been involved in spot-fixing are unwelcome.

But once the boys are out there on the training pitch they will be concentrating on what Gary Bowyer has put out there in front of them to prepare for the game.

Obviously before and after training they will be talking about things. That’s only natural.

But as a professional you have to rise above it.

The last thing we all wanted was bad news.

But it is nothing new, there has been bad publicity going around the football club for the last three years, and the players have had to get on with the job.

You have to be professional and switch off from certain things and concentrate on what you and your 10 other team-mates have to do on a Saturday.

That said it’s important we get all this cleared up as quickly as possible as then the rest of us can turn our attention back to what happens out there on the grass.

The club has been going under the radar a bit more, there have not been as many people criticising the club, and there’s been a feeling that people are rallying around each other.

So, as I say, the last thing this club needed was bad news.

I feel for the supporters. They don’t want to see their club on the front pages of national newspapers again – although this is slightly different circumstances.

But it is still the last thing we all wanted as it had been a positive weekend after the 0-0 draw at QPR.

Having picked up a point at Loftus Road, Millwall at home for me is a game they should win. Millwall are a decent side.

But they are no great shakes and I don’t think, man to man, they are as good as Blackburn.

So I’d expect a Blackburn victory and nothing less.

I wasn’t surprised that we picked up a point on Saturday. But don’t get me wrong I was happy as before you go to QPR, who are one of the favourites for the title, I think you would take a 0-0 draw.

So it was a fantastic point away from home against a very good side.

But that game has gone now – and now we’ve got a must-win three-pointer against Millwall.

Hi Kevin.

Please can you give us a rough estimation of how much blood the current squad of Rovers consume on a monthly basis?

Does it have to come from Rovers fans and is this the reason for dwindling attendances?

Thanks Kev

DJ got only few hours of play with rovers in this season and last season too, it will not be a miss for GB and he did not got the correct shape of play with DJ, So it is fine he is missing out from the team.

Good time Rudy join and Rochina getting ready.

Any news about goodwillie, if he comes back we can get a striker and backup for Rhodes too.

Ollson, Best, Enthu and DJ should step out from the team , they are not performing with there 100% , get few young hungry lads in this Jan transfer window insted of them and move forward.

Those asking about goodwillie should be aware that he cant get a start for dundee united these days and is generally down to appearing for the last 5 to 10 minutes as a sub. The supporters are divided on whether they should just send him back in january or persevere to try and get his head right. the general view is that he is not the player he was when he left the club.
