Gestede in line for his Rovers debut

Lancashire Telegraph: Rudy Gestede Rudy Gestede

STRIKER Rudy Gestede could make his Blackburn Rovers debut at Ipswich Town tonight.

The targetman, signed on an initial loan from Cardiff City, missed Saturday’s 1-0 home victory with Leeds United because of a minor knock.

But Rovers boss Gary Bowyer confirmed he is fit and ready to start if needed tonight.

Bowyer said: “He’s had a good three days training now and he’s a load better for that.”

DJ Campbell, who scored 10 goals in a successful 17-game loan spell at Ipswich last season, is also pushing for a starting place after coming off the bench against Leeds.

“DJ looked very sharp,” said Bowyer, who may choose to rest David Dunn.

“He had a great spell there last season and he’ll be eager to show the Ipswich fans how good he was.”

The Rovers boss is also hopeful Lee Williamson will return to his squad after he missed the win over the Leeds with a migraine.

Hope you get a chance Rudy (but I worry it will be as last 10 min sub).

A couple of assists would be great. Ipswich 1 Rovers 3

Should be interesting to see if he does replace Dunny because there is real competition for places now and the pressure is on to perform.

We don't travel well and Ipswich are no mugs but it's time we started to get some away points in the bag, if we can the second half of the season will prove interesting.

Three fit strikers and that mardarse Best hopefully on his way out.

Difficult to know what our best front pairing is... on paper we've got some of the best forwards in the division.

Guess he'll have to pick on form (presumably in training rather than in games as only JR has performed so far!) rather than reputation, so probably DJ and JR tonight on that basis...

Rest David Dunn?
If your going to do that then you've got to play Rochina.

Without Dunny or Rochina on the pitch we have no cutting edge whatsoever.

Doubt Dunny can play two games a week now and from what we have seen so far Rochina is a way off full fitness, Taylor did really well on Saturday, I would stick with him for now, lets see if he can keep it up.

Would be nice to bring back any points haul from our next two games. I hope we turn in a good performance either way though.

Now he has at least 3 fit strikers at his disposal I hope he starts to utilise them properly at some point during the game as we are short of fire power at the moment. Anyone know what has happened to Best, the last I heard was that he played a game for the under 21's and scored and that's it.

Hardly so, 10 goals under his belt while playing one up top, so not completely ineffective
But I do agree he will score more with a partner, but that will come
