BLACKBURN Rovers were today widely ridiculed in the national media after Michael Appleton was unceremoniously sacked yesterday.

Rovers have now had three full-time managers this season and five in total, with reserve team boss Gary Bowyer handed the task of steadying the ship until the end of the season.

Bowyer was in charge for four games prior to Appleton’s arrival and remained unbeaten during that spell.

Martin Samuel described the situation in equally bleak terms writing in the Daily Mail.

He said: “There really are few words to describe the idiocy of Blackburn Rovers’ decision to sack Michael Appleton, except to say that if the owners do not associate the crowd of 8,635 for an FA Cup quarter-final replay with their stewardship of the club, they are more stupid than they look. And frankly that isn’t possible.”

The boardroom divisions between Shebby Singh on one side and Derek Shaw on the other have attracted particular ridicule.

Ben Smith wrote for a BBC Sport comment piece: “The problem is bigger than any manager. At boardroom level, Blackburn is a club tearing itself apart. Singh and Shaw have not spoken since the turn of the year, avoiding each other on match days and watching from different boxes.”

The Sun described Appleton’s dismissal as chaotic and labelled the club a shambles while the Mirror described the shock axing as typical of Shebby’s Rovers.

The Rovers news was the main story in today’s Independent with the article pouring yet more scorn over the club.

Ian Herbert wrote: “Rovers continued their steep descent to becoming the most ridiculous club in British football.

“Appleton, the third Rovers manager to be dismissed this season, became the pawn in a power struggle between managing director Derek Shaw, who hired him, and global adviser Shebby Singh, whom Appleton believes wanted him out.

“What we have seen is the public unravelling of a proud football club because no one at the helm has the remotest idea about how to run one.”

Yes.... you could be right... and yes we have been calling for the heads of the last 3 managers, as we could see that they were clearly not up to the job before they were appointed. In isolation, it's a logical decision to remove a poor manager. What has been illogical is the last 3 appointments of Kean, Berg and Appleton. With that track record I don't expect the next choice to be right either. If they do get Adkins I'd be surprised but delighted. But would he come? For good money I reckon he would.

If Venky's are not prepared to sack Shebby Singh for his obvious short comings with being involved with a Club like Blackburn Rovers, his track record speaks for itself and Shaws is not much better either. Then they should consider selling otherwise this will be the total ruin of Blackburn Rovers in the very near future. Shebby is not a team worker and shouldn't be there. Totally agree Messrs Shaw Agnew Singh and Coar should be on their bikes pretty quick (with a new CEO put in place) - Coar sits there without comment with vested interest in only retaining his seat with the FA no interest what so ever in the Rovers !!! I agree if these people dont bite the dust then the Venkys should put the Club up for sale !!!

The problems did not start with Venkeys taking over, rather the issues were that the Walker family did not want to back BRFC in the manner that 'Our Jack Walker' did.
The demise began from when the family of Jack walker were not prepared to back BRFC in the manner that OUR Jack Walker would have expected.
The family had been trying to sell BRFC secretly just after the death of Jack Walker.
The problems of BRFC started from that point onwards.
BRFC waited for many months / years to find some buyers but to no avail.
It seemed no one wanted to buy the club. Eventually Venkeys bought the club.
Actually BRFC were fortunate that Venkeys did buy as there did not seem to be any other interest at all.
BRFC had no choice as the family of Jack Walker wanted to get rid of the (BRFC) family jewels.

We need to get used to the idea that foreigners own our football clubs,
If the people of Blackburn were so interested why did we not come up with a plan for the club together with the Jack Walker foundation and family.
Unfortunately, the Walker family were not interested in selling to the people as they would have not got much money from the people of Blackburn.

What background check do you suggest?

They run a successful business, made commitments and promises which seemed honourable enough. One was they wouldn't change the management structure of the club. That went out the window in a matter of weeks and would have been when the bells started ringing; by then it was too late.

No one could have predicted they were going to be useless at running a football club or that they were liars.

As for the Andt Cryer piece quoted by one of our dingle friends; that was his opinion and is flawed. The Walker Trust (not "Foundation" BTW) had not been putting in much money, if any, for some time yet the club had been bobbing along quite nicely thankyou. We would have been relegated eventually, it is the way of things with a club this size.

They may well ave been trying to sell the club but that in itself did not have an adverse effect.

I've had to wait before selling my car; it didn't immediately break down the moment I put an ad in Auto Trader though.

To learn from the TV that you have been sacked then to be handed a letter by a secretary confirming it shows nothing less than cowardice from the person concerned.

It's also quite obvious that the lack of spine and honour runs straight up the food chain to the top of the Venky's hierarchy, that is evident in the simple fact that they are reneging on Henning Bergs contract.

How many other contracts have been reneged on?

No understanding, gross incompetence, cowardice, morally bankrupt and totally out of touch with reality.

This one single episode proves beyond any reasonable doubt that Venky's are not fit and proper owners of our once great club.

Managing requires different skills and attributes. It is evident that Roy Keane does not have those.

for example:
he still thinks hes a top player

and still he does not see himself as retired...!!
he still thinks like the top player he was with quality players around him.

Actually, even at Man UTD where all are quality, it was common for Roy to get angry everyday with the players.
This increased towards the end of his career so much that Fergy. had to safe guard his other players and hence Roy had to go.

he has bought many players as a manager but most have been bad buys.
he rarely made a good choice with players bought most were average or not good enough..!

He has very poor financial sense.
his track record at buying players is very poor.

he gets angry very quickly.

he easily falls out with his players
if he does not get on with players.
he gets angry & he sidelines too many players.

In fact, Roy has fallen out with too many players and likely always to fall out with other human being and players because of his personality adn fiery temper & he wants all his way
so much that he would disregard or banish players. He would never play them again.

Hence with all the previous teams he has managed he has managed to have more players that he would not play again then those actually left to choose from. ....!!!!!!

He is a hot head and likely to fall out at any time, he is not dependable, he has no successful management record, & def. not BRFC management material.

We need stability, and success.
above all else we need a manger who can get on with all concerned especially winning over the fans and uniting everyone at the club.
We need someone to bring in quality players from the Uk and abroad. someone with connections to clubs and players.
We need someone who can take us back to the Premier and that requires someone who is hard working, someone who is not coming only for money, someone who can lead by example, someone who is motivated, someone who can deliver the results required by all fans, someone with charisma, style and passion.
