Appleton rues Blackburn Rovers' missed opportunity
10:18pm Wednesday 13th March 2013 in Football
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
BLACKBURN Rovers boss Michael Appleton admitted his devastation as Blackburn Rovers missed out on an FA Cup semi final at Wembley with defeat to Millwall in a quarter final replay at Ewood Park tonight.
Danny Shittu’s 42nd-minute header gave Millwall a 1-0 win over a disappointing Rovers side, who were booed at the final whistle by a crowd of just 8,635.
The Lions will now face Wigan in the semi finals at Wembley next month.
Appleton was left disappointed with the defeat but praised his side’s character.
He said: “You can only imagine the atmosphere after the game. It was difficult to lose how we did to a set play, that makes it even harder to take.
“Our lads gave everything tonight, I couldn’t ask any more for effort or desire but it just wasn’t to be.
“Maybe it wasn’t a corner for the goal but we had to deal with it and we didn’t.
“We’ve lost out on an opportunity that maybe none of us will get again.”

Appleton’s must be tactically inept.
Everyone in the crowd could see that the Millwall central defenders (and Danny Shittu in particular) were winning everything in the air yet we continued to pump more and more high balls into their box.
Why is he selecting players who are not fit?
Only a few weeks ago he was telling us that our squad was far too big.
I felt sorry for Dunny who ran himself into the ground but where do we go from here?
That is just 2 goals scored in the past 7 games and both of them came in the same game against Peterborough when we were 3 down after 27 minutes.
The pressure is on Appleton now to deliver for the Burnley game.
If we lose that I dread to think what will happen.
Relegation is edging closer and closer.

Pederson is just too slow PLZ retire
Dunn played well tonight but def in his last season and well be lucky if he plays a couple of games.
sorry is just too fat...PLZ retire..!
Hanley is slow but tries his utmost to do a decent job.
but not good enough for long term.
His thinking is also slow and hes simply not good enough as a 1st team player but ok to have in BRFC squad.
Lowe is slow slow but tries his utmost
best & should be ok as a squad member and occasional sub but not 1st team material in my view.

Dann is not the ideal captain
Infact we have no captain at BRFC
hence we need to find a strong central defensive partner for Dann

and
a midfield general or 2 who we need as leaders in the middle as thats our problem area and a capable ball winning captain in the centre should sort things out.....for sure...!!

get rid of Dunn,Pedersen,Orr,Mu
rphy. Ollsson brothers is very angry and forget to get control on ball. King lost the pace, only once he took his legs to run, otherwise he is very cool and quiet in the pitch.
We need a creative - impact player in the center like Rochina or Kazim
I feel the absence of Rochina/Kazim/Formic
a is creating a big difference in the team. needed improved players in place of them.
Another 10 games - we need to buckle up now.

You can blame Singh, Shaw, Agnew, agents, Hendry.
You can blame Murphy, Etuhu, Dann, Pedersen etc etc.
And if you do you would undoubtedly be right to some degree. But I have said on here in my occasional posts as have others this is all the fault of - THE OWNERS.
They have appointed the inept managers, they got rid of a decent and well respected manager who had us in mid Premier. They have caused the loss of one of the most respected boardrooms in football in Williams etc. They have employed incompetent replacements.
They have got rid off one player after another (Jones, Samba, Nelsen, Kalinic,Nzonzi,Bunn,
Rochina,Vucevic,Hoil
ett,Roberts,Salgado,
Emerton etc) who although not all word beaters were certainly more than capable of holding a mid Premier position and needless to say would be more than able in the Championship. They have pocketed millions in transfer fees.
They have sold and sold to save wages. They have signed players who now have us 6pts from the relegation zone. They have failed to provide funds(and never will) to buy quality replacements to undo the damage done in such a short space of time.
Their actions have caused attendances to evaporate.

After all the **** that has gone on in these past few seasons this was their one chance to make amends and give us a moment to be proud of and once again they manage to fail horribly with an abysmal performance.
Venky's and Kean screwed us over yes, but we cannot keep using that as an excuse. I wasn't willing to pay 18 to watch a team i have no faith in especially not after the Bolton game and i certainly wont want to watch us lose on Sunday because that's all that will happen.
We needed at least 8 players in through the transfer and loan windows and we have not got it so which ever fans have been saying that we have been financially backed need to go back and check the record.
And finally, i am disappointed in this so called 'action group' it has been silent in what is our hour of need, we the fans need to bunch round and some how get it into the heads of our players via social media or even voicing our opinions at the matches that they are ruining lives and tradition. As much as we all hated Kean he got wins on the board despite pathetic performances and Bowyer did an amazing job in the few games he was in charge, so they can perform when they want, now we just need them to listen......Maybe its time for us to stand up and be counted!!!!

The soul has been ripped out of our club.
There was no team spirit tonight, no battlers, no-one to take control of the game.
Appleton doesn't have any tactical awareness and frankly we were an utter disgrace tonight.
How can we just surrender when we 90 mins away from Wembley against a dire mid table Championship side, 180 mins away from Europe.
Appleton is a miserable guy with no charisma and has no chance of being a success.
This is the saddest day for a long time and if the 34 years is broken on Sunday then Appletons got to fall on his sword.

1) We no longer have enough fans to sustain our once great club. An attendance of 8k in fa cup q final with a real chance to get to wembley is terrible. Our attendances in league are 13k. Therefore we are headed to become an average championship team with a similar pay scale as Burnley and free bees and loan signings. We already have cheapest tickets and still cant sell out. Now i know blackburn is only a town of 100k in working class area of Uk, so it is understandable that we cant fill our ground. However that just confirms our status as a small championship club without the premier league money.
2) of course fans blame venkys but i would argue that since we got relagated they have tried to rectify things apart from not firing kean straight away. But it seems like people are just going to continue to blame them even though we have spent the most money of any championship side. I would blame the mgt of the club, the board, and the players for this season. I do not blame venky
s for Blackburn losing to milwall.
3) now fans want Appleton out!! He should not have been appointed but we cant fire every manager after a spell of bad results. Now more fans wont return because of Appleton which will prob cause attendance to go even lower. We have had too many managers and i reckon we have prob signed 20 players since relegation which is way too much.
Im starting to wonder if the people of blackburn want a club. Its like they want the club to fail so they can just say i told you so. To have a club with such prestige and history in Blackburn is a great thing. If everyone is going to be so negative the whole time the club is doomed to history.

1. He got rid of some classy players in Rochina, Formica and Vukovich. He should have kept at least one.
2. He maintains his Hoofball tactics when it is clear it doesn't work.
3. He played 2 in centre mid against Miwall's 3, thinking it doesn't matter if you cut out the midfield by kicking it over their heads. Problem is Danny Shittu who had a great game tonight just as he did in the first leg. It didn't work then and it wasn't going to work tonight.
I don't agree that the players didn't put in a shift. They did. They lack confidence. I am afraid the crowd booing when a pass goes astray makes it much worse. In the second half if they tried to pass to the feet of a team mate and it went wrong they get booed (Pederson in particular). Is it any wonder therefore that they hoof it long?
Afraid Appleton will have to go if we fail lose to Burnley. I'd take a draw if it was on offer.
Relegation battle ensues.

The team last night were clueless, without commitment, unfit, some just going through the motions and at the end thoroughly demoralised.
Whatever good will there was to Apple has evaporated, not only among the fans, but the players, too. We'll be lucky to avoid relegation.

Surely you are having a laugh!!!!
Pederson should have been finished at Blackburn 5 years ago, he has zero pace, zero passing ability, zero dead ball knowledge anymore and is wondering round like a lost man. He CAN NOT pass the ball, turns and hoofs it and is completely out of his depth, Grahnted centre mid might not be his ideal position but he has no positions left to play as on the wing he can't do it there either. Sorry but you can't be watching the same Perderson we are all watching.

and as for his post-match of saying that players gave their all last night - come on now - this is back to the days of steve kean - next thing you know he will be telling us we will be working hard on rectifying problems in training.
it doesn't take a genius to realise that every time you pump long balls up - that their big beast at the back will continue to swallow them up.
no shots that their keeper had to save in 180 minutes of football sums rovers up at the moment.
heaven's to betsy - i dread to think how we will show for the derby on sunday (although burnley are dreadful too) - the game only means something to one player - dunny and that he was our best player last night speaks volumes for the rest of the clowns (on and off the field). if the eleven players do not fight tooth and claw on sunday - then they will get dogs at the end.
we know the club is in crisis - we have long time acknowledged that - but all we really want to see is players putting a shift in and showing a bit of thought. none of that was in evidence last night.
be interesting to hear what messrs shaw, agnew and singh have to say.
"promotion, or die trying" - did shebby mean next season from d1?
looks like agnew and shaw want to mould rovers in the image of preston - looks like they are succeeding.

During the second half there was one spark of brilliance, when Leon Best ran at the defence, after that we just kept lumping the ball straight onto Danny Shittu's head, I half expected the Millwall crowd to start cheering every time we did it.
I am concerned that if that is the standard of football, with no tactics and no confidence to play the ball on the ground through midfield, then we will suffer at the hands of our six fingered, inter-bred rivals at the end of the M65.
Come on Rovers we must win on Sunday and turn our season round to stay in this league and consolidate ready for a big clear out and proper push for promotion, be it with Appleton or someone else.

If you were able to hound out one manager when we were top of the table and cruising towards automatic promotion, I am pretty sure that you could do a decent job of getting this skinned monkey out.
Shaw and Appleton are 2nd Division pedigree whose level of ambition is tempered by the reality of their own ability. They clearly feel uncomfortable around people of higher ability than themselves, and that, unfortunately, means the vast majority of the football community.
It is clear that he has no idea of how to organise and motivate the players and equally clear that they have absolutely no repect for him. Whilst I agree that Pederson and Dunn are looking too tired for this level the REAL worry last night was the commitment and performance of the younger players like Lowe, Hanley, Best and King. They gave nothing for him or us!
If we get rid of Appleton now we will have time to have a new manager in place for the end of the season and a full transfer window to clear out Appleton's yard dogs, Shebby's shambolic inheritance, get Rochina, Formica and Vucevij back and spend some more of our generous owner's money on a defence that can actually, wait for it, defend.
I am dusting off my season ticket and will happily lead the Appleton Out chants on Sunday. It is your duty to join me.

Entertainment wise very poor unlikely to persuade the missing thousnads back more likely to Put Off a majority of the paying public
Tactics were shocking - after a decent first half heads went down ehen the goal went in - who was marking Shittu for his free header.
Second half it was hoof it high Shittu won every ball Best retreated to the wing why? Rhodes is running on empty and whom can blame him.
Appleton must ask why he let Rochina go - love or loathe him Rochina has the ability to change a game with a flash of quality. Vuckevic should have been released after Thomas was signed. It all sums up the demise at Ewood
Absent owners - it is time to get out while you can- Rovers will never be a marketing tool only a drain on your finances - League One scenario is a doomesday one with low crowds and hghly paid wages.
Appleton should go and buy a big centreforward if he intends to play the high ball game and a combative midfielder to give Dunn & Jones a chance to play
Effortwise I would not criticise the players but boy how we have fallen even since the start of the season
Oh for a John Williams or Tom Finn to sort the club out - it is a disgrace. Dont blame the supporters for the raction at the end of the game - it was frustration mixed with a lost opportunity we will probably never see again

So here's my offering for what it's worth.
The best TEAM won on the night and deserved to, by that I mean that Millwall played as a team and not as a group of individuals.
I couldn't fault the effort of the Rovers players, although there were distinct variations in effort in some cases, it's pretty obvious that some players cannot cope with the pressure and expectation.
I enjoyed watching Best, if he isn't match fit then God help our opponents when he is, and hats off to Dunny who as usual gave everything.
That said, although we didn't boo them off at the end (I can understand why many did) the owners, management team and the players have to realise that the 8,000 that turned up last night are the bulk of the real fans who will support them through thick and thin.
And when the real fans voice their displeasure it's time to listen.
The Burnley game now takes precedence, anything less than a win will be totally unacceptable.

Right we are in serious trouble. Here is the truth and reality.
If you try looking any further than Venkys for the problem, you;ve gone too far, and you'll go round in circles until you eventually wind up with Venks being the problem.
Players are unable to play, board members are unable to do their jobs properly, and if you look at some of the shower that they have employed like Shaw and Singh, they would never be able to make a good club even without these restraints.

The appointment of Appleton was an old pals act on the part of the P.N.E. men, Shaw and that lifelong rovers fan Paul Agnew.
It's time the fans began shouting for their heads. In the meantime we should change our motto of Arte et labore to CAECI CAECOS DUCENTES I think that is Latin for Blind leading the blind but I'm prepared to be corrected.

All that really matters is staying in this league this season. FA Cup was a nice run, but a distraction from what is really important.
Me personally, we need to give Appleton and the team backing from now to end of season and starting soon as the final whistle blows on the last day of the season, the club needs to sort out the mess. I believe Appleton should be given the summer to try and clear out all the deadwood and actually bring in proven championship players who will bring more quality and look at how Huddersfield played last season to see how to get even more from Rhodes, who quite frankly with 20+ goals this season with the service he's received is unbelievable.

No one else to blame but the manager for this defeat. 1 -11 we had the better side and they all tried especially dunny, but tactically we were useless and that lies with the manager!
They didn't learn a thing from Sundays match and let Shittu win everything in the air including the goal!

2. Orc Boy Appleton is proving to be what we all suspected; a clueless coach with a dreadful record in place due to his friendship with the corrupt snakes Shaw and Agnew. revolting.

get rid of the elderly OAPs
its a young mans game...!!!
A new set of youngish, hard working, physically fit, skillfull Midfielders required at BRFC.
what do you think...?????
2 great servants will have to Retire.
Pederson is just too slow PLZ retire
Dunn played well tonight but def in his last season and well be lucky if he plays a couple of games.

this will be his - DD- Cup final

The Burnley game will define our season.....!!
Hanley is slow but tries his utmost to do a decent job.
but not good enough for long term.
His thinking is also slow and hes simply not good enough as a 1st team player but ok to have in BRFC squad.
Lowe is slow but tries his utmost
& should be ok as a squad member and occasional sub but not 1st team material in my view.
Marcus olson is like a fairy lightweight
only need to blow on him and he falls
Past it players ...plz Just GO...!!!
Murthy, Etuhu, Orr, Givet, Robinson
and any other causing BRFC issues should leave asap...PLZ
so we can buy players who will play for the BRFC badge....!
not just here for money....!!
Dann is not the ideal captain
In fact we have no captain at BRFC
hence we need to find a strong central defensive partner for Dann
who should be a capable central defender & hopefully be a potential captain.
and
a midfield general or 2 who we need as leaders in the middle as that's our problem area and a capable ball winning captain in the center should sort things out.....for sure...!!
what do you think...!!!!

#2. Leeds Home– Draw – not scored,
#3. Leicester Away – Loss – not scored, no clean sheet
#4. Peterbro’ Home – Loss
#5. Bolton Away – Loss - not scored, no clean sheet
#6. Millwall Away – Draw – not scored
#7. Millwall Away – Loss – not scored, no clean sheet
Since that fluke against arsenal the team has gone to pot, in the next
7 games they failed to score in six, and the only reason they scored against peterbro was they eased off and tried to sit on the lead, the jones dominance and goal was because he was signed at the last minute and posh tactics had not accounted for him

The problem is the managers inisitence on playing 2 out and out strikers and leaving us a man short in midfield, week in week out. MGP put a shif in tonight and I thank him for that. What both him and Dunny needed was another body in there so thayt could play a bit further up the pitch, but as usual we went with 2 isolated strikers, pinning all our hopes on a defensive error. That said with no option at right back other than Lowe, Murphy (as requested by the majority of Rovers fans) relegated to his living room couch, Williamson and Bentley injured, Jones cup tied, Rochina and Rosado loaned out and Vuckevic released, who the hell else could we have played there? Givet?
Surely you are having a laugh!!!!
Pederson should have been finished at Blackburn 5 years ago, he has zero pace, zero passing ability, zero dead ball knowledge anymore and is wondering round like a lost man. He CAN NOT pass the ball, turns and hoofs it and is completely out of his depth, Grahnted centre mid might not be his ideal position but he has no positions left to play as on the wing he can't do it there either. Sorry but you can't be watching the same Perderson we are all watching.
And Peds has never had pace! Definitely choose him over Murphy/Lowe

Admittedly, since then, Venky's have made the mistake of taking advice from Snake Oil Salesman and the only way back is the appointment of an ambitious, straight talking manager, back by a chairman who can manage upwards. Souness and Williams, where are you?Irish knowledge wrote: Right we are in serious trouble. Here is the truth and reality. I do not blame venky s for Blackburn losing to milwall. My goodness you haven't been following football very long have you? If you try looking any further than Venkys for the problem, you;ve gone too far, and you'll go round in circles until you eventually wind up with Venks being the problem. Players are unable to play, board members are unable to do their jobs properly, and if you look at some of the shower that they have employed like Shaw and Singh, they would never be able to make a good club even without these restraints. Football is one of the last things on these self righteous owner's minds. Look no further, the downward spiral will continue until they are history.
Where did I say Venky's were blameless? Of course they are guilty of being gullible and naiive but, they are still bankrolling a club with a playing staff bigger than many Premiership sides.

in the last two games you could definetely see they were targetting marcus olsson, as a makeshift left back he was far from comfortable, plus the lack of presence in the centre of the park meant they blocked any advance which would supply quality balls to the attackers, rovers didnt hold the ball long enough to allow runners move higher up the pitch and create extra options
the only way out is to come out fighting, do the very thing back to them, what yesterday showed was they had no definite game plan, that can only be down to lack of preparation, there was no sign which showed they were targetting the oppositions strengths and exposing their weaknesses, millwall definetely had weakness especially when you run at them with the ball, yet rovers played int their hands by lauching long ball after long ball, does appletons every learn or is hes just a one-trick pony, in that he only knows one way to play and that badly

It's all the fault of Venkys (Despite you paying THE MOST MONEY in the entire division on transfer fees in the summer - but this of course doesn't fit in with your complaining so it sems to have been glossed over)
It used to be the fault of Jerome Anderson, now he's gone, it isn't
It is Shaw's fault
It used to be the fault of Shebby Singh - but apparently now it isn't
It is all Hendry's fault
It is all Danny Murphy's fault
it is all Michael Appleton's fault - this is the funniest one, the guy is your THIRD manager this season and already the vast majority of you horse-fondlers want him out.
Pathetic club, pathetic fans, pathetic team and about to be finally owned by your nearest neighbours.

Why do you think we got relegated last season - we were absolute rubbish then and we are still pretty much rubbish now.
I am not sure how so many Rovers fans can have so much expectation in a club that has been struggling to stay afloat and even exist for three seasons now. We can have hope- we always have had in the past but there is some difference between hope and expectation.
Appleton or any manager we bring in needs time to work on the mess and try to put some base back in place to move forward. |He may not be the guy to take us forward but he is the right man for now for the first task.

Yes tactics have been all wrong recently which I admit doesn't bode well for the immediate future, but we need to back Appleton for the next 10 games, because as bad as things are now, if we turn on the team even more we could end up staring oblivion in the face with relegation. All that really matters is staying in this league this season. FA Cup was a nice run, but a distraction from what is really important. Me personally, we need to give Appleton and the team backing from now to end of season and starting soon as the final whistle blows on the last day of the season, the club needs to sort out the mess. I believe Appleton should be given the summer to try and clear out all the deadwood and actually bring in proven championship players who will bring more quality and look at how Huddersfield played last season to see how to get even more from Rhodes, who quite frankly with 20+ goals this season with the service he's received is unbelievable.Appletons judgement is poor. What a poor decision to let Ruben and Vukevich go and get his mates Campbell, Rekik and others who have been poor, Ruben made things happen and was joy to watch although his final ball at times was'nt right. Appleton's record at Blackpool is there for all to see. It does'nt seem Venkys have learnt from past mistakes as they keep appointing average manager with no tactical nouse. Appleton looks like a second rated Sam Allardyce. He is trying to emulate Sams hoofball but not good at it.
It's why I think we need to give him the summer to try and sort this mess out, because its not his mess but the Keans mess which still hasn't been addressed. If we keep hounding out managers after 10games or so in charge, who is realistically going to want to manage/own the club?

poor tactics
poor management
poor midfield yet again
MA.... the problem with....!!
'' A study of Neanderthal skulls suggests that they went extinct because they had larger eyes than our species.
As a result, more of their brain was devoted to seeing in the long, dark nights in Europe, at the expense of high-level processing. ''
Its quite obvious MA cant do it in the long run for BRFC....!
'' MA can def. see in the long dreary dark night's with his big bulging eyes which is obvious but can he see us through.....!!!!
but the vital question is can he process the info out there which is plain to see for all and come up with an action plan and see us through to the end of this season and beyond....! ''
I doubt it.....!!!
thats 7 defeats already and counting.
MA is a gonner if we lose against Burnley....!!
MA is an expert at draws..!
check the stats....! sh...te..!
we cant have this at BRFC,
sorry see this season out
or let him go....!! & start afresh...!
and we need a new proper manager
and new midfielders...!!!
get rid of the elderly OAPs
its a young mans game...!!!
A new set of youngish, hard working, physically fit, skillfull Midfielders required at BRFC.
what do you think...?????
2 great servants will have to Retire.
Pederson is just too slow PLZ retire
Dunn played well tonight but def in his last season and well be lucky if he plays a couple of games.
sorry is just mostly unfit...PLZ retire..!
but Dunny should play v burnley.
cos hes a local lad with pride.
this will be his - DD- Cup final
and ours of course...!!!

If he fails to score he is only doing what the others have done in 7 out of the last 8 games. So far as I am concerned, Appleton talks the talk, but fails to deliver on anything. He has stated that things will get worse before they get better. I can already hear another version of what we were told last year. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward. Two steps back will be were we go at the end of this season, as I cannot see another win coming.
You have to realise at some point Appleton has destroyed our attacking threat entirely. He stands on the touchline silent for 90mins, he fails to realise when players are absolutely knackered, his subs are always too little too late, he dosent realise were not strong enough to play longball, he's ruining JRs career, he has absoluely no charisma, no experience, the fans never wanted him - brag said they'd protest of he was appointed. He is yet to make a tactical switch which has ced the game, and keeps Nuno Gomez and goodwillie out of games when the alternatives are Forrester and dj Campbell. He totally fails to see that we don't press teams enough when thier in possession and we rarely commit more than 2 players to the box when we attack. We need to stick with a manager for the longterm and let them build a squad but this isnt that guy. Venkys must shell out for a proven experienced manager before we drop into total oblivion.
Anyway I guess we will possibly have a chance of Wembley next year in the Autowindscreens cup. We may even make that a North West affair, Preston V Rovers.
Good odds on this at the minute, around 10/1 against us going down, but make no mistake about it, we are going down!

What Appleton needs is to clear out the dead wood: Pedersen, Murphy, Etuhu, Lowe, Orr to name a few.
It pretty clear to me and probably most of you the way we need to play is to keep the ball to feet NOT longballing it up to Best and Rhodes where Danny Shittu can claim every f*cking header!!
Give them the ball at their feet and they will score goals!! Pedersen can't cross so why the hell is he taking corners and freekicks?
A MASSIVE revamp is in order at Ewood in the summer.

I'm sure he's working hard on the problem and proud of what the lads are doing in the meantime, and I'm sure the "give Apple a chance" brigade - which alarmingly after last night is still there - are still saying he's OK.
I think he's checking with the bank every day to see that the money from Venkys has arrived.
One consolation of being knocked out of the Cup is that we'll be spared the nausea of seeing the Chuckle Brothers turning up at Wembley.

It's why I think we need to give him the summer to try and sort this mess out, because its not his mess but the Keans mess which still hasn't been addressed. If we keep hounding out managers after 10games or so in charge, who is realistically going to want to manage/own the club?YorkshireRover85 wrote: Don't get me wrong...I'm not defending recent performances from Appleton or the players.
We need to give him to ability to put together a squad of players who want to be here and not just for the ridiculous wages we currently pay out.
All I'm saying is judge him 10 games into next season after a full pre-season, if still going wrong, he had a good chance then fair enough. Can't call time on the guy already with a squad that isn't his

Just look at the impact Billy Davies has had at Forest in less than 2 months.
A quality manager would have had results with this Rovers team by now.
Another cone placer promoted above his ability by corrupt 3rd rate snakes who claim to be managing the club and incompentent owners whose gullability knows no bounds.

Also your point about smashing it upfield contradicts practically every other post on here bemoaning the ability to pass the ball and Shittu winning everything in there air all night long.
Like I said, I'm not saying he is the right guy, just the fact that Rovers fans have got into a cycle of 10games and if we don't win them all were calling for a change in manager. Appleton hasn't even had a chance except for a shoddy loan market to put together a squad of players he thinks will do the job.
DanBlackburn - I agree with what Billy Davies has done at Forest, and I would of had him here as my 1st choice after Berg, but we didn't get him. We got Appleton, and it I haven't said he will definately come good, but the guy hasn't (I'm saying it again) had a chance to do anything yet.
On paper we do have a good squad, but its of players who used to be good on premier league wages, not of players on championship wages working to get into the premier league. No incentive...Appleton
