Magpies' joy as three goals down United

Chorley kept their play-off hopes alive with a stunning performance to end FC United’s 10 game unbeaten run in the league.

Goals from Dale Whitham, Andy Russell and Adam Roscoe sealed the visitor’s fifth win in six games and the club’s first win at Gigg Lane in front of over 2,000 supporters.

Chorley had the better of the early exchanges with Whitham and Tom Ince both going close before the Magpies took a deserved took the lead on 33 minutes. The impressive Tom Baker played the ball into the box, Russell headed back across goal for Whitham to nod home from close range.

Following the goal FC upped a gear and were level within five minutes when Matthew Wolfenden fired home from eight yards.

Chorley started the second strongly stronger and regained the lead on 53 minutes, again from close range.

Ince crossed into the box, but the home defence failed to clear their lines and Russell had an easy tap in from two yards.

And Chorley made certain of victory with a goal straight off the training ground. A throw-in routine between Russell, Ince and Jarvis ended with a cross into the box and Roscoe was on hand to end add a third goal and end the contest.

Hey up !!! Lancs Evening Telegraph where's the report from this Saturday just gone of Garry's team winning 2-1???? Surely, not all the 'sport' is about the 'farce' that continues under Venky's at Ewood ??? Perhaps some of the disillusioned will now go to support a decent outfit, even though they are non-league. At least with Garry Flitcroft and Matty they really put the effort in both players and management......
