Keeper Kean hails Blackburn Rovers’ cup defence
4:10pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in Football
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
BLACKBURN Rovers goalkeeper Jake Kean believes Scott Dann and Grant Hanley have been “monumental” for the club as they look to secure their spot at Wembley.
Kean has yet to concede a goal in the FA Cup this season ahead of tomorrow’s quarter final replay at home to Millwall and he believes a lot of the credit should be given to the players in front of him.
He said: “Grant and Scott have been monumental. They head everything, they kick everything and they are two proper centre defenders who just love tackling.
“They have been very good. I know Grant really well, having played with him in the youth team and there is just a good atmosphere about the place.
“I wasn’t really troubled on Saturday. They pumped the ball in the box whatever chance they got but I think when you are letting Shittu shoot from the halfway line, you have cracked it.
“I felt confident in myself, as I was rarely troubled and it was just the Danny Shittu shot or clearance or whatever you want to call it. I felt comfortable in myself and the back four.”
Rovers know victory over their Championship rivals at Ewood Park tomorrow night will secure a Wembley semi final against Wigan – something Kean is desperate to make happen.
He said: “We always knew it was going to be a battle going to Millwall. But the lads performed admirably and we are still in the hat.
“It was everything you expect going into an FA Cup quarter final at a hostile place. The crowd was unbelievable, our fans were fantastic, singing throughout. It was a different experience to anything I have ever been involved in.
“It is massive for me personally, being young and English and knowing what the FA Cup is all about.
“I wouldn’t say we are favourites, not by any stretch of the imagination, with it being a cup tie. You could have said we were favourites against Peterborough but we were 3-0 down in 27 minutes.”

This boy is a new hero for the B&W's a true custodian of the sticks following in the footsteps of many a great stopper throughout our history.
Better get him on a contract that befits his talents before the vultures come a hovering followed by the Appy man being braver in his approach to games, I feel ?
Hope your well ?

I have a sneaky feeling however that the three of you amigos will not be together much longer so enjoy your time together during the rest of the season.
Your performances (and we along with everyone else are aware of where our major failings are) will have been noted by all Premiership clubs.
Dare I suggest a bright future awaits the three of you.

Yes I dare, we have a new manager trying to build a new team, starting from the back 5 and you want to call him a clown and break up the team.
Kinda leads to the conclusion that you are no Rover
Dingle outed again...so sad

We will agree to disagree.
I will be there tomorrow night, however, I don't choose to share your view on Appleton.
No I don't rate him and if I am in a minority of one I can live with that.
As Clive Woodward said....
I might be in a minority of one .... but it does not mean to say " I am wrong".

I will credit him with having the strength to stand up to under performing senior players, a trait that you cried out for under previous managers. He has freed us from the handicap of Murphy.
Calling him a clown is excessive and leads me to think you are indeed a Dingle.
It aint rocket surgery, and if you are on Ewood tomorrow come and say hello in block D Blackburn End Lower
I will be there, the good looking fella with Wild Rover on his shirt...btw if you do make yourself known I will Moonwalk naked across the pitch at half time..

One of the moaning stay aways... I dont think so!!!
We are all entitled to our own opinions and mine is that I don't rate Appleton and I include his backroom staff in that.
Sorry if it does not tie in with your view, however, that is the whole point of this forum in that there is a willingness to read anyone's views without having to get personal.
If people decide to do so that is their prerogative but is not mine.
If I have been harsh on Appleton he deserves it on so many counts, again my view and I respect you totally in holding yours.
Here's to a win tomorrow.

ON HAVING BEEN THERE.
I will also be observing Appleton and his staff very closely again through binoculars which pick out every detail and I bet you that Moore stays motionless, slumped in his chair the whole game huddled under a huge bench / trench coat with his beanie on saying nothing to Appleton or the other players the whole game just like at the Reebok.
Anyway met a great bloke at the Reebok who goes to watch a load of the reserve and academy games at Brockhall from Clitheroe who has a lot of info on the players coming through
Perhaps we should be looking to blood a few - I think one of Derby County's best players is their 17 year old midfielder?

I was just pointing out that £18 is a tough call for some in these tough times.
I have some redundancy money for the time being, however, that will soon whittle away, in the meantime I will be there cheering the guys on despite the likes of Agnew gracing us with his presence.
I am looking forward to a positive result and yes given the scenes of our last Wigan encounter perhaps it is written in the stars for us to go all the way to the final maybe not beyond the realms of possibility.
Take care - Here's to a great night today as it is 1.0am on match day.
Just been applying for jobs so now off to get some kip so as to be able to get across the A69 and down and back up the M6 without falling asleep at the wheel come 9.30 - 9.45ish tonight as I think it is 7.30 K.O. now due to it being on ESPN.
