Blackburn Rovers to sign Rekik on loan

BLACKBURN Rovers are signing Karim Rekik on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old Dutch defender previously had a loan spell at Portsmouth during Michael Appleton’s time at Fratton Park, and it is understood he will join Rovers for the remainder of the season.

Rekik said on Twitter: "Happy to say that I'm going on loan to Blackburn Rovers and be part of the team.

"Hope to win many games and learn for my future at Man City."

Obviously Appy knows him, that's what he's paid for, let see what he is like and give him a chance.
It's another body in, lets get rid of some more deadwood and complete the turn round.

Must have been brought in to cover for or replace Monsieur Warrier Gael Givet as Rekik is a center back who can play left back also. Good cover also for Olsson. Nice to see us with so many more good options in defense now.

Just the midfield for MA to sort now....

I was wondering what an 18 year old could bring to the squad rather than an experienced defender, but it seems he's well thought of by the City fans and looked on as a star of the future.
When given the chance there he slotted in well with no signs of nerves. Here's hoping he can do well here.

Sounds like a replacement for Gael Givet but may have more pace and will be on the bench. Not giving MA the different options he say's he needs unless they release Gael as assume he will drop down pecking order now. More concerned about at least one good winger.

Not sure how some 18 year old defender who was by all accounts useless for Portsmouth in the same league, is going to bolster the defence.

Surely, experience is required.
