CHORLEY were brushed aside as rampant Rushall inflicted a crushing defeat to which the home side contributed by some woeful defending.

In truth, the margin could have been even greater.

Man-of-the-match Dave Walker bagged four goals and having scored from the spot missed a second penalty late on.

The Magpies conceded a soft goal in the fifth minute, a mix-up between keeper Jack Cudworth and two defenders allowing Ahmed Obeng to walk the ball into an empty net.

A thunderous 35-yard wonder-strike by Josh Craddock on 20 minutes doubled the visitors’ lead but Chorley hit back through Andy Russell.

But sloppy defensive work set up two further goals for Rushall, both converted by Walker, in the last four minutes before the break.

Debutant striker Cameron Darkwah almost pulled one back for Chorley after the break, his close-range header from a John Cunliffe cross hitting the bar.

But Rushall added a fifth from the spot when the elusive Obeng burst into the box only to be brought down by Cudworth and Walker slammed home Rushall’s fifth to complete a hat-trick on the hour.

And the wily striker saved his best for last when he netted with a slide-rule finish from a tight angle.
