Moore has the magic secret

WITH four Championship promotions already to his name, Darren Moore certainly knows what it takes to get out English football’s second tier.
The tough-tackling centre back is now embarking on a new coaching career at Blackburn Rovers but he believes his experiences can only help in the new promotion challenge facing him.
The 38-year-old, who was appointed first team coach last week, is hoping to share the ingredients of success with Michael Appleton’s men as Rovers chase a play-off spot.
But Moore, who enjoyed Premier League promotion at Bradford, West Brom twice and Derby, is staying tight-lipped on what exactly the magic ingredients are though.
He said: “I have been promoted out of this division four times now. I do know what it takes and these are the characteristics I will be giving to the club.
“Even though I have been promoted four times it has been with four different managers.
“But there has been one ingredient there and that is an ingredient I have to touch on.
“It is the ingredient I have gone by and is the ingredient I know has brought success and is one I will give to the boys.
“I don’t want to give it to the outside world but I will be giving it here in trying to see the club move forward.
“The gaffer will know that ingredient and Westy (Ashley Westwood). I have to try applying to that to the players because they are a fantastic group.
“In most sports, confidence is a big thing and consistency. That is what we have to build here. It is about continuing doing good things and building consistency so that the good things become second nature.
“The Championship is the hardest division to get out of because there is not that much difference between the teams at the top and the teams at the bottom.
“Anybody on their given day, if you don’t apply yourself on any given day, can lose to anyone else. It is as simple as that.”
Moore, was a team-mate of Appleton’s at West Brom and more recently had been working in the youth set up at the Hawthorns.
He also spent time in the same Bradford side as Rovers’ new assistant manager Westwood.
Moore said: “It has been excellent, the feel of the club is superb. Coming into the club has been really, really good.
“The size and stature of Blackburn Rovers is very, very impressive. I have had 20 years of playing the game and enjoyed every minute, had some great successes, really treasure them but since 1999 behind the scenes I have been preparing for a job opportunity like this.
“It was waiting for the right opportunity to come along and the gaffer has come in and offered me this.
“I have enjoyed doing the coaching badges and now it is a case of putting all the experiences and qualifications into practice.”
