Clarets to appeal Marney red card

BURNLEY will appeal Dean Marney’s dismissal against Birmingham City.
The midfielder was shown a straight red card by referee Darren Drysdale for a tackle on City defender Paul Robinson just over an hour into Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Turf Moor.
Manager Sean Dyche questioned the match official's interpretation of "excessive force" in the sliding challenge.
But after losing an appeal against Kieran Trippier's sending off against Charlton, and opting against contesting Brian Stock's red card at Barnsley, where the midfielder was a victim of mistaken identity, the Clarets WILL lodge an appeal with the FA’s disciplinary department in a bid to overturn the decision and spare Marney a ban.
“We will be appealing," said Dyche.
"We felt it was the wrong decision at the time and since then we have looked at the incident again in the cold light of day to confirm our belief.
“We’ve also sought a few opinions from other people that confirm our thoughts, so we will put our faith in the appeals process in the belief we can get the right outcome and have the red card rescinded.”
Marney was sent off with the score at 1-1 and the ten-man Clarets then lost to a last-minute goal from Marlon King.

A date for Rovers' away game against Leicester City has now been confirmed.
The match was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday February 16, but with Rovers, and possibly Leicester City, being involved in FA Cup with Budweiser 5th round action that weekend a new date was required.
Rovers will now travel to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday 26th February, kick-off 7.45pm.
However, in the event that either club is involved in an FA Cup 5th round replay on 26/27th February then it has been agreed that the game will be moved to Tuesday 12th March, again with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Ticketing details for the game will be announced in due course.
