Rovers make approach for Blackpool's Appleton

BLACKBURN Rovers have tonight made an official approach for Blackpool manager Michael Appleton.

Despite announcing Gary Bowyer would continue as caretaker boss until the end of the month, Rovers have now confirmed Appleton is their managerial target - despite him only being joining Blackpool from Portsmouth two months ago.

Derek Shaw, Managing Director of Blackburn Rovers said:  "I can confirm that we have made an official approach to Blackpool FC about our interest in speaking to Michael Appleton. This is the only candidate we have approached for the manager's job."

I would like to have the likes of Roberto Di Matteo or Shaun O'Discoll, both managers with a proven records and both inexplicably sackd by their clubs. I think Forest must be regetting appointing McLeish, they have gone to pieces since he arrived. I am not surprised, look what he did at Villa and Brum. Those in charge at Forest must be nearly as daft as those at Ewood!

The club are being their usual inconsistent selves though, every day brings another surprise!

With Appleton as manager Shaw would feel able to influence the squad, etc over the interference of Shebby. Simple out manoeuvering during the power struggle which is ruining the club!

Maybe this is the time that the "power struggle" is finally ended and Shebby will leave. The club can then carry on under the "power winners" which may or may not prove fruitful, but let's be honest company bickering is not acceptable, as I have experienced. The other question to ask is whether Appleton is regretting moving to Blackpool, under the Oysten regime. IF he is appointed, give the guy a chance.

The only thing you can say about the folk running the club is that they are very entertaining - a laugh a minute. It is very sad though.

Next season I will decide when I see what happens for the rest of the season. At the moment there is no way I will buy a season ticket and no doubt nor will a lot of others. If things don't change Ewood will be nearly empty every week.
I have given up caring, but I am a season ticket holder and will trot along to watch the games I have paid to see. The only thing you can say about the folk running the club is that they are very entertaining - a laugh a minute. It is very sad though. He was assistant to Roy Hodgson and Roberto di Matteo at WBA, and did a good job in very difficult circumstances at Portsmouth (they sold pretty much all of the senior players!), and has started reasonably well at Blackpool, again despite interference from Oyston.

I think the majority of posters on here got behind Berg even though he wasn't their first choice.

I think the majority of posters on here are behind GB and appreciate his efforts to steady the ship while the backroom chimps continue to throw sh!t at each other.

I think the majority of posters on here do want an experienced manager but don't trust the motives or judgement of the current executives to get that decision right, hence the exasperation each time they say or do anything.

Its a comments page, you have to accept there will be extreme views, but 'you lot' encompasses many intelligent folk who have a long standing passion for our club.

I personally applaud the majority of 'you lot' for caring enough to keep coming back with your opinions and good humour in these dark days.

Rather negative that Gazhay, I think the majority of posters on here got behind Berg even though he wasn't their first choice. I think the majority of posters on here are behind GB and appreciate his efforts to steady the ship while the backroom chimps continue to throw sh!t at each other. I think the majority of posters on here do want an experienced manager but don't trust the motives or judgement of the current executives to get that decision right, hence the exasperation each time they say or do anything. Its a comments page, you have to accept there will be extreme views, but 'you lot' encompasses many intelligent folk who have a long standing passion for our club. I personally applaud the majority of 'you lot' for caring enough to keep coming back with your opinions and good humour in these dark days.

More than open for opinions and I want like everybody else for this to sort itself out. If only we had the right structure we wouldn't be in this mess. However my point was that whomever we get in place a majority will come on here and moan and we need to be realistic and ask who would actually want this job? Football is about opinions and decisions but surely there is a time when continued chaos and incompetence prevail for the so called powers in football to act. Surely now they realise Venkeys are not fit and proper to run any football club. Would this or what happened at Pompey be allowed happen at Man U I think not and so it should not be allowed to happen anywhere. This is not about one mistake it has been bad management of the highest order that has given football and football club ownership a terrible image on the same scale as the Glazers but without the publicity and the real possibility of two teams being allowed to dissapear completely. Unfortunately only money matters nowadays and commonsence and genuine fans come last. Please has anyone got an answer because I dont think there is going to be a happy ending whilst the are ALLOWED to carry on destroying everything built up by Jack and his staff. Having said this I keep going because I wont let them stop me but I also understand and respect those who dont. Hoping for the end of this chaos soon please.
