Henley on the sidelines, but Orr unlikely to return to Rovers
7:57am Tuesday 8th January 2013 in Football
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
ADAM Henley has been ruled out of action until mid to late February with a hamstring injury – but Rovers look set to give Ipswich the opportunity to extend Bradley Orr’s loan spell until the end of the season.
Henley’s absence will leave Rovers short of options at right back, with central midfielder Jason Lowe now expected to move back into defence, but the Lancashire Telegraph understands there are no plans to bring Orr back into the Ewood Park frame.
Caretaker management duo Gary Bowyer and Terry McPhillips are exploring the option of strengthening in midfield and defensively in the loan market this month, but it is believed they will face resistance from the club’s hierarchy, who are not expecting much transfer activity.
Rovers also yesterday rejected a bid for Martin Olsson from West Ham, understood to be in the region of £2m, and are bracing themselves for further interest in the full back.
Gael Givet, Paul Robinson and Scott Dann are all understood to be the subject of interest from rival clubs, although no official bids have been made, but Rovers are determined to keep the majority of their squad intact.
Henley’s enforced absence is a blow to Rovers’ Championship play-off hopes as, with Givet’s continued absence, it leaves Bowyer facing a severe defensive shortage.
The 18-year-old limped out of Rovers’ FA Cup victory over Bristol City in the first half on Saturday and, after a scan yesterday morning, is facing a four to six-week absence.
Academy product Ryan Edwards is expected to be handed his first involvement in the senior squad imminently, after Rovers rejected Rochdale’s attempt to extend his loan spell and instead brought him back to Ewood.
Lowe’s expected positional switch will also leave a central midfield shortage, with Danny Murphy and Morten Gamst Pedersen the only recognised senior players currently available in that position, with Dickson Etuhu still struggling with injury.
Right back Orr was open to returning to Ewood Park when his Ipswich loan spell came to an end later this month, having been frozen out under former Rovers boss Henning Berg, but is believed not to be in the club’s long term plans.
Reports linking Rovers with a loan move for Manchester United defender Scott Wootton are understood to be wide of the mark.

It is bound to happen at some point.
This situation has been totally predictable as has been pointed out by many fans since the last window.
Ryan Edwards may well deserve his chance but he cannot be the complete answer to the current defensive shortages.
I hope that Bowyer does get the backing of the owners because he has already proven that he deserves that backing and to not do so would be a real kick in the teeth.

bowyer could well be forced to go for the 'attack being the best form of defence' philosophy for the next few weeks!

Lowe moving back to defence will again upset the midfield just when it showed signs of improving and cheapskate owners unwilling, it seems, to even take anyone on loan due to having to pay the wages.
Well done Bowyer for what you have done but you will find yourself working with one hand tied behind your back under our wonderful owners.

The main concern is the club dont want to appoint a manager due to the fact they cannot afford to spen any more money on new players or managers. We as fans the few that are left still attending do not want Shebby Chaplin to start scouring the Portugese markets for replacement defenders we want decent British defenders and we dont want Shebby anywhere near any footballing decisions.

On a wider point, there is still a deathly silence regarding who is actually running this club and with full respect and apologies to Gary Bowyer, to ask him to make transfer decisions is like asking Ronald MacDonald to change the recipe of the Hamburgers. Shebby The Snake is still slithering his way around the corridors and Shaw needs to put his foot on his head.
I also believe that the Lancashire Evening Telegraph has a bigger role to play here. Rather than continuing to pump the Snake's ego with the oxygen of credibility, they should be by passing him and asking serious questions of Shaw, and , or Venky's. You are the "voice" of Blackburn ........or has Shebby hypnotised the Telegraph as well?

DOES IT SEEM FAIR TO GARY ?
GARY BOWYER was doing a good job coaching the reserves , (steady employment) if Gary does not cut the mustard (hopefully he will) as MANAGER, but if not what will the scenario be ?
If SINGH etc. eventually brings in an experienced manager , and we hope he will have his own coaching team, what will happen to Gary ?
It would be grossly unfair if he is shown the door, who is doing Gary`s job right now ?
And will he be able to get his job back ?,

Salgado v Henley
Robinson v Jake Kean
Olson v Ryan Taylor
Nzonzi/ Jones v Lowe
Nelson/Samba/Givet v Hanley
Emerton v Josh King
They must have saved MILLIONS (and made £27m on Jones & Samba) with this, but we end up with a thread bare squad, no cover for injury & kids desperate for recognition or their "big chance" willing to be part of it.
I've said for a long time they're running the club like a corner shop. Is it just me that can see the similarities?

C'mon Singh, you know you can do it! Pick up the phone!
Whilst you're at it sign Messi too, another ballon d'hor.
Wait a minute, how about Maradona to coach him.
And why not Beckham too as a twilight shift now he's leaving LA. I'm sure he'd be perfect for a Venkys TV ad and Posh will just love living in Whalley Range.
Sorted!”

Why Rovers feel the need to apologise when Kean was quite clearly on "a frolic of his own" and was talking in a private capacity, I don't know. I can't see how they are vicariously liable, at that time, for what Kean said.
.
As for Kean, he was only repeating what many others have said (falsley) after viewing the Panorama programme.
.
The people that should be liable are the ones that published the film in the first place. They are the ones that spread the defamation from a small group of individuals in Hong Kong to a worldwide audience on the web. Did this publication have any effect on Keans job? -No. Has it had an adverse effect on Rovers? - yes!

on an official club tour representing blackburn rovers. fans who released it didn't seem to be goading kean (from what i remember).
both rovers and allardyce have/had been exceptionally tight lipped on the reasons behind his departure. i assume this is because NDAs were signed. Kean, on club business, opted to ignore the terms of that NDA. i think if kean had been on a private holiday in hong kong and said what he said, it would be a different matter
don't see how the publication has had any impact on rovers apart from the settlement amount paid by the club.

cant think of any that has gone from being a model of stability to total chaos in the space of a season.
pompey and leeds yes.....but their own particular tower of babel developed over several seasons - and like him or loathe him (and i loathe him) cuddly ken was slowly sorting the dirties out.
the only club which i see currently compares to rovers is coventry which seem to be a couple of years ahead of us in the deterioration of a once proud club.

it is easy to forget how bad things were at saints in the ridiculous days of rupert lowe - a man who clearly demonstrates that you don't need a charlie chaplin 'tache to be a comedy clown in the football trade with the appointment of woodward, appalling financial management with relegations and points deductions....it is fair to say that saints fans have been through the ringer (must be summat to do with the sea air on the south coast - also see pompey and plymouth)
i guess the saints example shows that there can be light at the end of the tunnel - and it need not always be the train coming in the other direction.

What was he doing in the bar?
.
How did this video get onto the internet? did the club publish it? did Kean publish it? The people responsible for its disemination are the ones responsible for the defamation getting around the world. They are the ones that SA should have sought compensation from but it wouldn't be good PR if he had.
.
It is just more bad PR for Rovers.
