Bamber Bridge 1 Ramsbottom United 1
1:20pm Monday 7th January 2013 in Football
RAMSBOTTOM United’s fine away form continued at Bamber Bridge, but they left it late to secure a point in a game they should have had sewn up by half-time.
A catalogue of missed chances came back to haunt them as the home side took an unexpected lead just before the break.
The visitors, despite having much more of the possession than the home side, finally gained some reward with seven minutes to play, but this was ultimately two points dropped.
New signing Kristian Evans had a hat-trick of chances to score on his full debut and Jon Robinson also went close.
Grant Spencer drilled a free kick just over the bar as the Rams took control.
But in a rare foray in to the Ramsbottom half, Bridge took the lead just before the break when Owen Roberts deflected effort beat Shenton.
In the second half, new-boy Evans had a close range effort cleared off the line to show it wasn’t to be his day.
The Rams finally drew level with seven minutes remaining when Johnson bundled the ball home from close range.
It was no more than the Rams deserved, and at this point and Johnson came closer to netting a winner late on.
