Unhappy Givet eyeing Ewood exit

FRENCH club Evian look set to offer Gael Givet an Ewood Park escape route – with the Rovers defender desperate to quit Blackburn Rovers for a return ‘home’.

It is understood the top flight French outfit are set to make an approach to Rovers to take the 31-year-old on loan, with Givet having already told Rovers he wants out.

Givet has made just 13 appearances this season, and just one start in the last 14 matches, with Rovers putting his recent absence down to injury.

A representative for Givet, Nathou Busi, confirmed that Givet is keen to quit the club this month for family reasons and that Rovers are aware of his wishes.

Busi, said: “Gael has told Blackburn he does not want to play for them. He has family problems and wants to go back to France.”

Rovers, who have yet to receive contact from Evian, are understood to be reluctant to let Givet leave on a temporary basis as they look to keep their squad together.

The player though, who was substituted during the defeat at Charlton due to ‘not being in the right frame of mind’ while also not playing at Swansea last season for similar reasons, is determined to leave this month.

shame for givet and rovers, but clearly he follows the cases of the likes of nelsen, salgado etc. done well for rovers, not without mistakes but always gave his all.

The club should let the lad go out on loan with the option of a permanent move. His heart is obviously not here any longer and his family issues are unsettling him further.

Givet has been a key player for us on many occasions in the Prem - and given his all on many occasions. Let him escape the circus now.

Evian are struggling in the French League One so he may be going from one relegated club to another one headed the same way....but at least they will all speak the same language!

I have no idea whats going on behind the scenes but Givet on the pitch has always been a proper old school defender.

Never afraid to get stuck in and often played out of position, probably the best centre half we have is leaving the club, yet again !.

Bon chance, Gael.

The circus rumbles on with the same never ending complaints from our long suffering fans. there's only one way to finally show these indian clowns what we feel, and that is to do what Givet and Robnson will soon be doing and abandon this sinking ship, untill these rats have left. I realise that is a difficult decision, but if we don't act fast we won't have a club left. Start with the Bristol cup game and stay away.......That will be the ultimate selfless act for many fans I know, but it would show the world we mean business! Then we could climb back on board and hopefully rebuild.

While I don't lack sympathy for his "family issues" if they really exist the simple fact is that he refused to play for us for around 12 games last season "Because his head wasn't right", and a similar situation has existed this year as well.

He's a professional sportsman, it's his job to be fit and ready to play and give 100% for 90 minutes once or twice a week.

To his credit at least he stayed at Rovers unlike Nelsen and co who engineered their way out by refusing to play as well.

But I will bet they all took their expensive salaries out of the club every week while **** stirring in the background.

So I honestly wish him all the best and I hope his problems are resolved asap, but I don't want any players at Ewood who don't want to play for us for whatever reason.

Lets put it in perspective, if he was on, say £30k a week in the PL he was probably on about twice as much as most people posting on here were paid in a year.

not sure how you can inferr that it is a money thing. i would wager that Evian would not be able to pay any more than we can.

They have not done one thing to improve the club since they bought it. I will turn up for the rest of this season because I was daft enugh to buy a season ticket, but no chance next season. Dunn,Robinson,Givet & Pederson rounded on the shebmeister and told him in no uncertain terms he wasn't,t fit to be running the club and he didn't,t know what he was doing! Hence all four left behind for the trip to Barnsley , so although on paper Bowyer is choosing the team in effect he can only choose who Shebby tells him !

I dont know how old you are Lancs pensioner, but I presume old enough to know better. You sound just like Givet, cant play 'because his head isn't right'. What a set of fans we have become. Givet was an OK player never any more, true he was brave in the challenge but always lacked pace and made plenty of errors. True bravery though demands commitment to the cause and that includes over paid prima donnas. Why do we all want to believe the worsed all the time?
I don't see Gary Bowyer throwing the towel in and refusing to manage! get down there and back the team, you like I will have seen much worse times than these, and god only knows what went on previously when the 24 hour news/social media spotlight wasn't upon everything and everyone.

Givet for all of his warrior type attributes has once we take offf our Gallic tinted glasses fallen betwixt and between: neither an exceptional centre half or left back. Thanks for the memories & Au Revoir.
But what an excellent trio of centre backs they were. I for one miss their application and commitment. Not to mention talent.

Ok, I think we should make recomendations to BRFC as we're football fans and we see or hear of players doing well. I'm sure we know a player or two out there in the Football league who in their opinion good be a good player for BRFC.

Lets start pointing out the good players in the lower leagues who could be good signings for Rovers.

Tony McMahon Shfld utd
Andrew Haliday Midbrgh

who is .......Tony McMahon...??

if we need a good young defender who is tough and has ability then maybe you should consider Tony McMahon who is at Sheffield utd but ex Middbrg.

have a look...!!
I think we should go for him
hes a full back, strong, tough and has scored goals

Andrew haliday
tough strong and young
Hi Shebby, read your post a number of times, makes me think about that young Centre Half who plays for Doncaster Rovers, T.D. Husgitt. I think he fits your profile.
And he would fit in the slot when MO moves to West Ham!
Shipping out decent players to replace with cheap players.

I totally agree with that, he's been awful ever since that pay dispute went public. he's been at fault for more than his fair share of goals including both v blackpool, and how people can feel sorry for a professional who can't play because his heads not right is beyond me. good riddence as far as Im concerned. even when he was good he wasn't great.
Get back in the Darwen End with the new breed of supporter Boooooooooooo.
Set of unsupporting tw@s nothing more
Listen nobby, the comments board is for opinions and that's mine, he hasn't been good enough and his attitude has stank for at least twelve months. As for support I'll bet your one of the thousands of fans now going to games for a good natter and quiet moan, ruined sometimes by people trying to create an atmosphere. Fair play to the Darwen end lot at least they try to make some noise
Would your attitude stink after seeing your mates leave a sinking club that you play for miles away from home? There is to much in house fighting, all created by our owners. Blackburn fans everywhere should get down to Ewood and back the team that's on the pitch and in my opinion that means never booing a player in blue & white. No wonder we are fast becoming a laughing stock in the football world.

hope you can sleep at night Shebby!

Forget the sideshow and support the team.
aye
Spot on with this post!! Support the team not who own's the club or who works for the club. It's about following and supporting the team, lets get behind the lads COYB!!!

Why did Samba leave???? He engineered a move believing that a Top Four Club would come a knocking : none did. The reason why?? Samba application, as I said he engineered his departure. Nelsen: different class both for attitude and committment but if he smacked his boss he had to go. Givet was and is wholehearted but as other people have said he is nor prone to spitting the dummy out. I believe we are on the verge of building a good young team: the nucleus is there, all we need is to be patient.......

Just when I was getting over the bad faith which has beset the Rovers you go and mention Ryan Nelsen.
Always gave his all WTF, was that before or after he refused to come out for the second half on three occasions, Tell you what I'll drive him to the airport myself the soft spoilt nobender.
Only bonus is we'll have to get a replacement in.

Hey Shebby, I think you might be interested in the young defensive midfelder at Red Star Belgrade, he has dual nationality because his mum is English but his dad is Serbian, his name is Harry Balzac.

Lancs - pensioner. Please reconsider.
You are the lifeblood of the club, the hopes and disappointments you have felt are what football is all about. Promotion, relegation, controversy it's all part of being a football fan. True, Venkys have pushed some of us to the limits with their lack of acumen , but lets not let the side show detract from the main act, a football team that we have made ours, that we live and breathe, that has become us, and ones before us. It's a game that's built on loyalty and , despite some poor decision making from our owners, the cynics and conspiracy theories have got us where ? Support the team, be positive and let's see where that gets us, it must be worth a try for a fine fellow like you with a breast adorned with medals.
You are BRFC.

I'm afraid this is what happens, the doomongers and naysayers get on here early, create pandamonium and then everyone follows their lead with the rest of the lynch mob.
I'm glad givet is going. When sam was here he couldn't even get in at centre back and then when he gets the opportunity to play every week, he keeps refusing to come out for the second half.
Bye bye Givet you spineless wazerk, no more slug trails to clean up after the game, yes he is that slow.
