Full time: Blackburn 3 Nottingham Forest 0
5:01pm Tuesday 1st January 2013 in Football
BLACKBURN Rovers made it back-to-back wins under caretaker manager Gary Bowyer as they brushed Nottingham Forest aside at Ewood Park this afternoon.
Rovers, whose win over Barnsley on Saturday led to the Tykes sacking Keith Hill, were by far the better side against Forest but went in 0-0 at half-time.
However, Ruben Rochina made it 1-0 three minutes after the break before Jordan Rhodes doubled the advantage on 75 minutes.
Then Colin Kazim-Richards put the icing on the cake with a third goal three minutes later.

2 swans don't make a summer.
We need a proven manager that can deal with players, tactics, contracts, man manage and has the experience, attitude and know how to regather what we have and challenge to the best of our ability.
The Championship is a long season and if we can win blocks of games we have a small chance of sneaking into the playoffs late on.
If we make the right managerial appointment and a few additions in defence and midfield with another loanee up front to support JR we could turn this disaster around.
I'm delighted with the win but again like I said last season we are becoming easily pleased supporters.
We are Blackburn Rovers for Christ sake, we've had some of the greatest names in British football wearing our strip.
Lets push on, as supporters as a club, as ONE TEAM!!
Forget Shebby, like a p1ssed up relative at a family party, ignore his boll ox and let's just support our team.

Be honest who do you think is queuing up to take the Job, I would put Bowyer on a rolling contract till the end of the season, if we do well & get into Prem or into the play offs but don't make the Prem at least we have the opportunity to find a PROVEN championship/ Premiership manager
One more thing at least Gary Bowyer is English.

Although, back to back wins, and in good fashion. Well done to Bowyer and the lads. Wouldn't be a bad idea to give him a couple more games but seeing as one of them is a cup game we would be pushing the end of January before someone is brought in. Tricky situation. I would sooner keep Bowyer than hire some unproven Venky's cheapy. If you're going to bring someone in, it has to be someone worthwhile.

Fantastic result today, 3 important points, and some confidence boosting individual performances, but letsnot get carried away, there is still a lot to do to get this team organised.
The first half was very uninspiring, Rovers looked nervous and Forest worked very hard to close us down all over the park. Hence a very attacking team selection created very little and Rochinas attempts to drive forward were too often frustrated by a packed defence. Frustrating to watch but Rovers lack of mobility around him offer too few options and so he usually ends up doing too much. King and CKR both looked like guys who can make things happen and played well but too often are individual contributors in very disjointed play.
Second half we got some luck with the first goal and simply became more confident as Forest faded badly. Everybody seemed to step up the passing game and started to look more like a team who wanted to play for each other. 3 Goals in one half says it all.
Stand out performances for the effort of the young spine of the team, Kean, Hanley, Lowe, and Rhodes.all really delivered on the day and can be as proud of the clean sheet as they are of the 3 points.
Distinct areas for improvement, Scott Dann can head everything in front of him but his distribution is a liability, we don't appear to have any ideas when it comes to deadball situations, and we still have not figured out how to feed Jordan Rhodes with the through balls he thrives on.
So its been great to see a winning performance on the pitch, but what will happen next behind the scenes, who knows?

Bowyer knows how to get the best out of players, hasn't he masterminded one Youth Fa cup final appearances and two semi final appearances, not to mention winning the youth league.
So why get rid of a winner with a winning mentality and a winning track record for someone of the same ilk as Mcleish, its you guys who need to get a grip, I'm not bothered if he has no senior track record, his record at youth and reserve level shows he can do a job.
So as someone has mentioned, hang fire and let him carry on for a while, then see what happens, at least now the panic for getting someone in so soon is not as desperate. Forrest were just outside the playoffs and we demolished em.
Long may it continue, the fightback is on.
Bowyer in for now
Well done lads

Venky's have a really difficult decision here. Appoint someone new or see how it plays out with GB?
One thing is for sure, a rushed decision isn't needed at the moment and although the waiting game creates the usual rumours and leaves us open for further ridicule, its too important a decision to get wrong.
Rovers fans, lets stand firm, ignore the impending and continuous rumours till its announced and enjoy the taste of back-to-back victories and a clean sheet. You were all magnificent again today, especially after the first goal, I couldn't tell whether it was kneed or not, but it certainly got the crowd going and the results are there for all to see.
Fortress Ewood sounded more like its old self today after a long time.

He's done well but these fans who are calling for him are the same fans that have been shouting for an experienced manager for months !!
Also, most of those shouting for him never actually went today !!
Lets be HONEST - 3 0 flattered us MASSIVELY - just like the Barnsley game we got a flukey 1st goal and that is a HUGE break at this level - christ, we never had an attack in the 1st half !!
I'm not dissing Bowyer but the job of re-building Rovers is HUGE - and needs someone with EXPERIENCE and the STATURE and BOTTLE to stand up to SS & Venkys as when the need arrises - does anyone on here really believe that Bowyer will have enough balls to tell SS to f**k off - cos thats whats gonna be needed.
I think that Billy Davies would be a good appointment for us - he is VERY experienced at this level and at Forest he had a running battle with Doubty who kept trying to mess with team affairs and wouldnt invest in the team - BD wasnt afraid to stand upto his chairman - thats EXACTLY what Rovers need at this moment (someone in the Souness mould).
Also, BD will not be frightended of giving some of these over paid losers a rocket - as and when they need it - which seems to be most of the time.

as for new appointments
bowen seems to be getting some mentions....personal
ly i wouldn't mind it if he wanted to break away from sparky. nobody knows if he would be any good, i thought steve clark would be a disaster at wba.
hughes - won't come....and do you want kia joorabchim associated with our club - makes JA look like an amateur
davis - falls out with everybody at every club he has managed (including the tweedle dee and tweedle dum boys when they were at preston. can only think he would be a plant by shabby to get agnew/shaw out
taylor - legend in his own mind hated at bradford, leicester, stevenage and palace. one of my pals is massive palace supporter and says that palace players were the unfittest they have ever been when taylor was in charge....just what we need.
bowyer - no idea if he would be a long term success, but given that most of us have written off this season, he might be a sensible appointment to the end of the season whilst the idiots running the asylum try to sort the off the field issues out (some hope, i know). the one thing in bowyer's favour is that at least he knows enough about charlie careoli and the rest of the clowns in charge - AND HE IS STILL HERE!
robinson - previously been at ewood (albeit for a short time) and has been a great success at mk. hungry and probably looking for the next move. his ambition may permit him to put up with the idiots in charge in favour of making the next step. personally, if he was willing to come, he would be my choice.
brown - desperate to get a job and has publicly declared his interest. does anybody think he would be the right choice.
7:25pm Tue 1 Jan 13
J.C - Rishton says...
Yes, Billy Davis can pick a fight in a telephone box, but so can Souness - and that IS whats needed at Ewood right now.
You need someone who will go toe to toe with SS, and shake up players like Murphy, Etuthu and Dann.
To suggest BD would be a patsy/stooge to upset PA is ridiculous and also contradictory when you say "he falls out with everone".
BD is a great job at Preston, got Derby promoted then got Forest top on Jan 1st and asked for 2 or 3 more players to help press on - he was refused, was not allowed to bring in anyone and Forest tailed away in 2nd half of season - exactly like he told his chairman would happen.
BD is very much in th Souness mould - agressive, in yer face Scotsman who's not frightened of anyone and who's teams get results & he knows the Championship - ticks most of the boxes so how you just write him off as some kind of stooge figure whilst saying Mark Bowen "might be worth a punt" is beyond me.
Surely we've gone down the "inexperienced" route (Ince/Berg) and it has failed terribly - surely thats the last thing the club needs right now.

For whatever reason the player's weren't playing for Berg, but do appear to be up for it (at least so far) with Bowyer in charge. If we dangle the carrot of “if you keep this up we will employ him (Bowyer) full time”, it may just push the players to kick on. It just goes to show that the players can do it at this level if they want too; I don’t think Bowyer is a better tactical coach than berg, I just think that he seems to be able to motivate them more effectively.

We must also move forward and be positive if clubs carry on as they are their will be no young managers coming through. If its just the same old names going round and round we should be bold and look at managers doing well without being bankrolled.
We no longer have the Walker millions and must adjust our mindsett i watched Bobby Saxtons Rovers and we have to get our club into context.
As for a new manager I will stick Pat Fenlon-Hiberian ,Mark Robbins - Coventry,Phil Parkinson - Bradford City and if we must have a BIG name how about Terry Butcher- Inverness. None have much money to work with but are building clubs play good football they are all straight talkers and honest. We are no longer bankrolled and need a manager with the skills to build a club with limited funds its no good looking back the only way is forward. Well done 6out of 6 Rovers Happy new year to all.

I'd be prepared to give Bowyer a chance, why not? Knows the squad, been here years, might just know how to get them to tick?
Don't get this "experienced manager" line lots of people are trotting out. McLeish falls into that category does he? Well the Forest side he put out today were AWFUL.
No decent manager is coming to this circus with these ring masters in charge, so stay with who we have. The owners want to tick the "young player(on less money)" box and what better man than G.B. to work under that regime? Taylor is a joke, another F.A. Yes Man and Davies did exactly what?
Lot of "experienced" managers milking the gravy train for all its worth, and if we get one of these , that's all he'll do.
Surely G.B. worth a shot.
On another note, where was Hendry today? Didn't see his horrible pasty face on the bench. Didn't go to Barnsley, was he anywhere to be seen or have they hidden him away till he's paid off what he owes? Maybe they've found him a job more suitable to his stature, cleaning the bogs or boots in the changing rooms!

The players of who you are so critical were on premiership contracts because under previous managment they were playing in a mid table premiership team.
The Walker Trust were not happy because they were propping up the club to the tune of about £2-3m per year, but only because player trading was always significantly nett positive and the £20m debt was manageable.
In that economic model the £5m per transfer window, promised by the Venkys, would have been enough to fund modest growth.
Its a pity that the new owners and their advisors didn't leave the club, and their english manager, alone to continue keeping this club in the top flight.
By interfering with the playing side of the club, and removing the clubs experienced administrators, it has been ripped apart and all revenue streams have been decimated. The exposure to contracts is still there, as are all the debts, now just owed to Venkys in India, not Barclays in Britain.
What a sorry state we are in because of basic arrogance and ignorance. And before you cry foul, this is not about race, this is about people with a life time of experience of football in England understanding that it is a business where the cheap labour model simply does not work. We are now all watching Venkys learn that the hard way.
