Full Time: Middlesbrough 1 Blackburn 0
5:01pm Wednesday 26th December 2012 in Football
BLACKBURN Rovers slipped to another defeat this afternoon as they went down 1-0 at Middlesbrough.
Lukas Jutkiewicz scored the only goal of the game on 67 minutes and the loss at the Riverside Stadium left Rovers with just one point from the last 18 available.
Henning Berg's men were on top for periods of the first half but were unable to get in front and after the break they were very much second best to Tony Mowbray's men.

After all of the background noise about the backroom staff being replaced they still remain. Although Berg has tinkered with the playing staff, it is clearly not enough. The team is an absolute shambles and low in confidence. Change needs to happen and needs to happen soon, to stop us falling through to League One.
-
I sincerely hope we do not here a Pollyana statement from Berg about how the performances have improved. Performances and talk does not get you points on the board, and we are simply not picking up enough points and unable to get any kind of coherent level of performance together over 90 minutes.
The manager, coaching staff and players all need to answer some serious questions.

So how can anybody be surprised that he has now achieved just 1 win in 10 games or 3 points from a possible 30.
As many of us have said all along Berg was appointed because he was the 'Cheap Option' - i.e. he probably agreed to work with the existing coaching staff.
During the 5 week search for a new manager I recall seeing Shebby Singh on Sky Sports saying that it was crucial that Blackburn Rovers made the right appointment and that the only target this season was promotion.
As we are now 17th in the Champonship, just 7 points above the relegaton zone it is now clear that Singh, Shaw and Agnew made a huge mistake when they chose Berg.
Compare our recent results with those of Ipswich and it shows the difference a decent experienced manager could have made at Ewood.
Yes Berg inherited an unbalanced and an unfit squad but any football manager's main function is to maximise the potential of his playing staff.
Clearly Berg is unable to do this because his record with this squad is far worse than either Kean or Black.
Berg must not be given any more time or money and must be sacked immediately and replaced by someone such as Mark Hughes.
Would he come back, I don't know but things cannot be allowed to continue.
What happened to the 'drastic action' promised by Singh 3 weeks ago?
Surely Shebby's position at the club must be under threat.
What has he achieved in the past 6 months? - Absolutely nothing.
I also remember Venkys and Kean telling fans to look forward to Champions League football within 5 years.
The way we are going we will end up in League 2 - unless we go out of business first !!

If Shebby is to stay true to his word, which is of course expected of people who claim to 'love the club that is Blackburn Rovers', then something drastic has to be done immediately.
Blackburn certainly have the players (on paper at least) who can guide the club back to the EPL, but for some reason, the way they are playing, and the results they are getting, is proving otherwise. Clearly Berg is not an astute tactician, nor does he seem capable of rallying his troops.
Perhaps, a more experienced manager should be considered before Rovers have to spend another season in the Championship, or even worse, drop to League One?

The trouble is, it's pointless sacking him because we will NEVER get a proper manager whilst that IDIOT Singh has anything to do with this once proud club. To be honest Black was doing very well. Yes, we scored 1 goal in home games, but he changed the formation and the players had to adapt. Also, I think you'd take 1-0 wins at home than 2-0 defeats etc.
Of course though, I forgot winning 1-0 wasn't good enough for the fans because as soon as we get what we need, you all look for the next best thing - the next available person who might be able to win everything 2-0.
This isn't Fifa, this isn't Mark Hughes'/Allardyces' reign, and this isn't 1995 either. I mean the unrealism is just ridiculous.
We can't afford managers like Mark Hughes, and we're a step down for that calibre anyways (despite his recent managerial performances being below par).
"Let's Get John Williams back". Never ever going to happen. It's like working all the way to the top of a supermarket then wanting to go and stack shelves.
In my opinion, Venky's will be looking to try and sell the club off behind scenes when promotion is a no go. The squad will be devalued, they can't make the sort of money out of the club that they have so far and because they won't be making money, they'll become even more disinterested than they already are.
Manager wise, if Berg goes, he won't be sacked, he'll resign because if you haven't noticed, he hasn't exactly got what he expected and he isn't happy.
I would say let's get a young manager in and give him some time but Blackburn isn't a club for young managers at the moment. We don't really have time to give out to managers and even if we did, the fans would get too impatient and wouldn't see what we might be able to achieve in the future.
We need results at the moment. I wanted Tugay to be honest. I think he'd of been fantastic.

Forget the idea you will get a quality manager to replace Berg or the next half-wit who follows him. With the Venky's in charge no good manager is going to risk their reputation associating themselves with the biggest joke club in English football.
And to think there were numpties on here bragging about Beckham and Ronaldinho coming to Ewood Park. Nope, your club is going in one direction only - downwards; and despite protestations, Rovers fans know this better than anyone.
And as for the Venkys, I wonder how much money they are syphoning out of the club? Could it get any worse for you lot, now you are below the Clarets in the table.
By the way, however many abusive responses I might get for this post, I don't care, because each poisonous word by way of retort will only further support the certainty you lot are suffering, what is to all Burnley fans, a hilarious ignominy for the most deluded supporters in the country.

What I would give for a deflected shot to go in or for a penalty for any reason (that we score from) or an own goal in our favour. But the only luck we have currently is NO luck. It has to change though, the law of averages and football say that over a season this is the one thing that is shared out evenly. If that is the case then we must be saving an awful lot up for the second half of the season then!
Berg seems to be a decent and honest man doing his best (his way) to sort out who wants to play for the team and who doesn't want to play and who is prepared to put the effort in to help the team be successful - some of the performances at times in some of the recent games have been improved - but Henning needs the backing of the club during the Jan window to give himself and the Rovers the best chance of success.
A couple of decent players in the right positions who can strengthen the team and the performances and results will improve and the confidence will return (along with lady luck) and then we can consolidate the season and prepare to push on for next season. New Year - New Hopes.

Saturdays game is now a "6 pointer relegation dog-fight".
I can understand fans calling for HB to be sacked (they may well be right) but firstly, before another ball is kicked, SS MUST leave the club and either Tom Finn or Paul Hunt re-instated (JW would never come back and work for Venkys, nor would they ever ask him).
SS is a complete and utter CRETIN and for all these people who still (unbelievably) say that Venkys are just "naive" - GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND !!!! - they are our luekemia - invecting every part of our club with their utter poison.
SS has no credentials for being a CEO of a £50m football club - christ, the man has never lived in Europe before - he knows NOTHING about English football and even less about running an English football club.
So I'll go back to my first point - why sack HB until you have got rid of SS - no decent, experienced manager would come and work for SS - Berg said as much himself a few months ago.
Get a proper CEO in (pref JF or PH) and then let them run the club - and sack HB if they chose to - then let them appoint the BEST manager they can find - not let the final decision rest with that stupid cow sat in her ivory tower in Cowpat, India, who by her own admission, knows NOTHING about football but never listens to anyone who tries to give her PROPER advice (eg Paul Hunt).
Unless Venkys do this, and do this QUICKLY then relegation (again) could well be the least of our problems.
This "Venky cancer" will eventually completely destroy the club (we are currently losing over £2m per month) unless change is made VERY VERY SOON.

Sure we did "okay" at times but they bossed virtually all the 2nd half and may have won by more but from good saves from Kean and a few last ditch tackles etc.
The "core" problem with this Rovers squad is that the senior players are (when the chips are down) "Uncaring, gutless, mercenary losers"
- eg - today the game was even until Boro scored but once that happened there was only one winner - why, because all our senior players just let there heads drop and didnt respond positively - and the junior members of the squad take their lead from the Murphys and Danns etc.
We really need 11 Robbie Savages out on that field but unfortnately as soon as we conceed a goal they play more like 11 Lilly Savages !
We have lost 5 of the last 6 games - that has NOTHING to do with luck - we deserved to lose to Blackpool, Cardiff, Bolton and Millwall as well !

Alas, we don't have these luxuries and bringing in a part experienced manager has now led to us tumbling even further down the table. Unlike some doom monging honarary dingles, who don't even attend matches to be able to justify their experiences of individual performances, I do not believe we are relegation fodder or will be. What I do believe is unless we want to be doomed to a life in this league, Berg has to go. Thankfully it appears that Venky's are now heading in the same direction.
Put simply, Berg doesn't have the ability to get the best out of these players. He has gone on record to say his management decisions are his own and certainly Singh wasn't guiding him today seeing that he was in the commentary role. If these are his decisions then they are very poor indeed. No Vukevic again, no change in game play until we go a goal down - again!
He might be the nicest most honest decent man alive, he is not the man to get us out of this predicament and therefore he must go. The fact is that he should have never been employed in the first place but he is not going to step down yet under his own volition.
Venky's must act swift, and bring in someone with the ability to get this rabble playing for the shirt to stand any chance of going up the table again.

iIn normal circumstances he wouldn't come in a million years but he also has a reputation to rebuild after the QPR shambles. Unfortunately I think its clear Berg hasn't got it based on his whole managerial record -looks like he' s carried on where he left off in Norway.

I know the obsession and envy is rife throughout medieval Bonleh but the cancer that has struck Rovers appears to be seen as some sort of karma or payback to all you desperate oddballs down Bonleh way.
I didn't realise just how much Rovers have affected your lives these last 3 decades. It obviously really hurt being so unimportant and 2nd best for so so long - hence how easily pleased you are.
Aren't you even slightly embarrassed you got so excited about a 4 point gap you posted 6 paragraphs regarding another football clubs plight? Don't you think it's an admission that Bonleh FC are the very weak link in one of the most one sided derby rivalries in world football?
Being below such an unimportant and dull club like Bonleh is the most significant piece of evidence of how far our club has fallen these last 2 years. It tells the full story.
Thanks for the laughs though - now go inflate your blow up doll and take him to McDonalds for a romantic meal before you re-enact a love scene from Brokeback Mountain in the back of the Sierra.......

Its the only way forward as they have NEVER been interested in Rovers , only making money .
The greedy bds really want promotion to cream off more so i really hope we go to the wall .
This club needs cleansing of the desease that is venkys
Im really torn between going to games and giving to venkys
I really hate venkys more than i love Rovers and thats saying something to those who know me .

Once the club is ridden of all it's values they will go and whoever takes the club from their dirty hands will have one heck of a mess to make up. We will end up in a similar mess the Dingles were left with in the late 80s.
You can call me a doom monger or whatever you feel. What you can't deny is that this freefall we have experienced since Venkys took over isn't finished. I'm not sure we will get relegated, we're better than that. What matters is January. If Venkys go on another asset strip then we will be in League 1 next season. If they invest we may well be looking at a play off place.

The fact that all you turd stained couch potatoes spend all your time on here is proof enough to Rovers fans that even hitting rock bottom, we would still be be better than you. Classless? You're having a laugh aren't ya turd boy?
Being above or below Bonleh makes absolutely no difference to me when our team is playing shiite. Its seems to matter to you a lot more with your cup final victories.
Enjoy it for what its worth. I just love watching you turdies clinging on hoping to get noticed.

You are absolutely spot on when you say they are only interested in making money, after all they are a business, If things dont improve Im gutted to say that for the first time in years I wont be renewing my season ticket, we have to make a stand and the only way to rid the Venkys is to hurt their pockets.
I hope I'
m wrong and they put some money into the team in January but something inside me tells me they wont.
Don't worry I shouldn't think they will be here for the long haul!!!
It won't be long before they bleed us dry.....

cannot argue with that my friend your spot on, & all Rovers supporters must acknowledge that sorry to say but that's life: Berg is unable to do anything with the current players on long contracts & they still get paid very good money so why would they leave the Titanic after all the players seem to have good life jackets.

Joudan Ali - do me a favour.
Anyway, Berg has now been sacked - not before time.
He was the wrong choice and Singh, Shaw and Agnew must share the blame.
