FULL-TIME: Burnley 1, Watford 1

5:23pm Saturday 15th December 2012 in Football

SAM Vokes was denied a stoppage time winner by Manuel Almunia, leaving Burnley to settle for a point at home to manager Sean Dyche's old club Watford.

The Clarets trailed after only 10 minutes, when Lee Grant was beaten by Nathaniel Chalobah's low volley from the edge of the box.

But after getting back on level terms through Charlie Austin's 28th minute penalty Dyche's men ended the first half strongly.

Grant made a smart double save from Troy Deeney early in the second half to stop Watford from getting the upper hand again.

Then after Joel Ekstrand rattled the crossbar with a dipping 30-yard effort he had to be alert to thwart Deeney again from the follow-up.

But Almunia was kept the busier of the two goalkeepers, proving a match for a number of other Austin attempts.

The Clarets kicked on again after Keith Treacy marked his return to the first-team set up with only his second appearance this season, coming off the bench for the effective Danny Ings, who made his first start of the campaign.

Junior Stanislas wasted a couple of openings, before Almunia somehow kept out stoppage time substitute Vokes' header from a corner at the death.

Despite not getting all 3 points we were again the better side. How their keeper kept that header out I'll never know!

If we were coming away after scraping a lucky point I'd be worried. But we're feeling hard done to really and another win is just round the corner.

Blackburn are a mid-table side were less of a challenge than todays visitors whose away record is very respectable and we out played them for most of the game.

Wow. Sounds like a really exciting time to be a Burnley FC supporter.

So lets get this straight. You're actually counting the goals scored column as you look to the day that you are above Rovers in the league table?

No other targets this season? Promotion? Play-Offs? Top Half?

Surely it must have dawned on Burnley supporters by now that they are never going to beat Blackburn in a football match. We handed you the opportunity on a plate and you still couldn't take it! Even now, with BRFC in disarray, Burnley still can't manage to clamber above us in the table, even if it is for a week or two.

Bless these numb dingles, getting all excited because their club is doing so well by being 'nearly' above BRFC. Can't imagine the scale of celebrations across Burnley if they do manage the magnificent achievement of being above BRFC in the league.

I took his advice.
Then, 12 years ago, I got sick of how the not-so-nice Mr Bliar (sic) was ruining the country. Ergo, we upped sticks to the Costa Azahar.
Both have proved to be excellent moves.
I looked on Google-Earth 'streetview' the other day for our old house on the bottom block of Robinson St (next door but two to the Working Mens' club). It's no longer there, having been replaced by a mosque.

Got to agree with you here bobinspain. Blair and mates tried their best to wreck the country. They pretty well succeeded. Can you believe he wants to come back!!! What a nerve he has. Wish he had emigrated to North Korea or somewhere like that where it would have been difficult even for them to wreck the economy which is already wrecked. He could open the flood gates there but nobody woud want to go.
