Disappointed Dyche refuses to blame ref
8:26pm Saturday 17th November 2012 in Football
BURNLEY manager Sean Dyche refused to hold referee Robert Madley responsible for a 1-0 home defeat to Charlton Athletic, despite having Kieran Trippier controversially sent off.
The Clarets were made to play with 10 men for 75 minutes after Trippier was adjudged to have handled a shot on the line and was red-carded.
Madley also awarded a spot kick, which Lee Grant saved.
But Charlton went on to extend their unbeaten away run to six games as Johnnie Jackson scored a 69th minute winner.
Dyche praised the way his team responded to Trippier's dismissal and felt his side deserved at least a point from their battling performance.
But despite the disappointment of defeat, he said he would not hold Madley accountable.
"I think the sending off is difficult. I've seen it again and it looks like the ball has hit him rather than him hit the ball. But what can you do?” said Dyche.
"It's a tough call and you get away with some but we didn't. Referees have a tough job to do but we probably haven't had our fair balance over the last couple of weeks. You hope that evens itself out over the season.
"We created a number of chances and took on the game with 10 men. The result doesn't always match the reality of the game and that was the case."

This should have been sorted when Suarez did it in the world cup. The sight of him leaping up and down when the penalty was missed even though he was sent off sent out the wrong message. It sent out the lets cheat and get away with it message.
Still that simple rule change would be to easy wouldn't it? The game could then continue with eleven v eleven.
Anyway back to reality
