Rovers boss Berg wants whole squad to contribute
8:11am Thursday 15th November 2012 in Football
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
HENNING Berg insists Blackburn Rovers’ strength in depth will prove crucial this season as he stresses the importance of having “impact players” in the squad.
Rovers’ Norwegian is still getting to grips with the players at his disposal having taken charge of the club almost a fortnight ago but has been encouraged by the ability of his substitutes to have an effect on the game.
Forgotten man Simon Vukcevic has been particularly impressive in the three games he has been introduced from the bench and, with the likes of Nuno Gomes, Jason Lowe and David Dunn returning from injury, Berg is relishing the prospect of a big squad to pick from.
Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham saw Rovers drop out of the Championship play-off places, as they sit in seventh and two points adrift of the top six.
But, ahead of Saturday’s televised trip to Peterborough, the Rovers boss believes the potential is already in the squad to boost the club’s Premier League bid.
Berg said: “All our players who start the game should be able to play 90 minutes – we should be as capable of making an impact in the 89th minute as the 25th.
“But to have players to come on who can change things a little bit is very important. You need more than eleven players and everyone in this club will be important.
“We’ll have many games and training sessions and what we do in those will decide how far we go. The potential is there – we just have to get that extra quality at both ends of the pitch.”
Vukcevic was in Montenegro’s squad for last night’s World Cup qualifier at home to San Marino as he looks to have been handed a fresh start domestically at Ewood.
The 26-year-old winger made just six starts in his first season at the club, plus a further four appearances from the substitutes bench, after signing from Sporting Lisbon in August 2011.
Now though, having featured from the bench in all three of Berg’s matches so far, Vukcevic looks set to be handed a new chance.
“You have to give credit to him for that,” said Berg. “He came on against Palace and did really well for us, the same against Hudd-ersfield and handled himself very well on Saturday too.
“He was unlucky to be caught offside for that through pass and it’s good for us to have options on the bench.”
Meanwhile Bradley Orr yesterday completed his loan switch to Championship rivals Ipswich Town until January, with a view to a permanent move.
Orr said: “There were a few things going on in the upper echelons of the club at Blackburn and I wanted to get out on loan.
“Once I heard of Ipswich’s interest I was really keen to come down here. “Thankfully we’ve managed to get something sorted.”

I also think Dunny is no longer of much use to the team...hey "Harwoodblue"??
.
...and what about Pederson on the reputed £50K per week...could we get rid of his wages...what do you think "Morst"??
.
...and of course isn't it funny how Mr Cryer bans anyone who goes against the "syndicate" who seem set on destroying the club for their own greedy ends!!!

I'll try and get this back on topic (obviously it won't last long)
I think with a full compliment of players and a bit of time we can start firing all guns and I feel we have enough up front (more when Best is back) and in midfield too to come away with 3 points more often than not. Just need to stop leaking sloppy goals!

Our PR mission is going great by the way, people are going back to Ewood, the games are getting better under the new manager, Blackburn seem to be on the up as opposed to Burnleh's perilous situation. Oh, how are you liking the big Dyke? Haha!
We're thinking as a next PR stunt to advise Venkys to buy Austin from you, not that we need him or that he fit in the team... Just because it will be funny :)

Not to worry, we have his IP and MAC address so tracking Smelly down shouldnt be very difficult. When we get hold of him he's heading from the chicken shredder. the only thing that'll be left of him is his tin foil hat.

Dunn is injury prone and immobile.
Givet is always committed when playing and an asset at this level. Definitely one to keep in the squad.
Just need to get rid of a few of the Kean/Anderson mysterious buys!
In relation to Diamond's dribble & diatribe, why would the police be making any arrests when they aren't even conducting an investigation. Also, there's no such thing as IR in this country, it's HM Revenue & Customs.
Hope Matron moves you away from the keyboard soon, you garbage gets boring. :)

Is this utter sociopath STC/D2I again spewing bile out and attempting in getting under the skin of Mr French with his disgusting comments ?
Guttersnipe and the truth is only ever known by such.
He mentions J. Walker in his posts as though he walks in the same circles. J.Walker would put a boot right through your pitiful backside should he be with us here on planet earth.
I'm watching you Smelly with a critical eye and your 'Taps' clan will not save you should the time ever arrive for 'hey lads hey' ! Know what I mean ?
I know the Fylde well seeing as I lived over that way for nigh on 15 years along with my mother who lives in Lytham.
Your poison is only attributed upon yourself. Dark days descended upon our glorious club, but now the light is beginning to shine through all because we love, honor, respect, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the late great J. Walker, who's voice through ourselves have begun the process of reestablishing the good name of the founder member of the football League 1875 BRFC.
We move on as one voice our discontent in the correct way, but support 100% when the time dictates.
Henning Bergs B&W army.
Back off Smelly and keep your nasty personal insults to yourself !

I am a ST holder and fully support Berg as he attempts to turn things around on the pitch but his squad, like the management and operational side of BRFC is still suffering from the dubious decisions that have been made.
So the past is not irrelevant, and Rovers fans (even old smelly diamond if he avoids the offensive slander) should be allowed an opinion. Mine is that we can support the club and still have the right to question what is being done to turn it around.

This comment(above)epitom
izes just how low this trolling character will go.(D2I)
So long as he can belittle those who can see the disgraceful episode that as engulfed our club, but still believe in events in turning it around he is achieving his goal.
This isn't about BRFC - this is utter personal gratification, which turning this on it's head this character is as bad as those who purported to run the club with his snide personal comments.
No one disputes the alleged goings on down at BRFC, but not getting your own way doesn't justify the conjecture this character comes out with.
One perfect scenario for you here, along with your conspiracy theories:
Henning Berg made a substitution v Huddersfield of a young upcoming guy with minutes remaining 1 - 2 to the good, who then went on to give the critical ball away for a last gasp equalizer thus we drew the game and threw the game away ?
What is your observations over that small matter ?
I would be interested in knowing ?

For two years now i've been consistently critical of the corporate governance and inappropriate involvement of agents at the club. I'm not connected to the club in any way other than as long term fan.
I was actually defending your right to express your opinion, and in amongst the hysteria you do make some reasonable points. I simply noted that comments are wihdrawn when some moderator feels a line is crossed.

ok
WHY are we not WINNING games...??
in my opinion its because we have too many elderly and slow players in the team.
FOOTBALL is a fast game and they need to be able to last for 90 minutes
Unfortunately BRFC have too many slow or over the hill type players.
For me that's the biggest issue within the team.
we have too many slow players not able to last 90 minutes.
Dann, Hanley, Givet are slow
Murphy, Etuhu, Pederson, Dunn are old and past it.
Gomes is old and not strong enough.
and there's more
what do you think...?
We need fast young energetic players
The centre of our defence is slow and the centre of our midfield is slow.
we certainly can't compete with those players especially as we aim to get back where we belong in the Premiership.
We are missing a midfield general, to dictate play and link up the strikers
We need a big target man to play alongside Rhodes.
We need a fast center back who can play....!!!
what do you think...????
