KIERAN Trippier is understood to be on Premier League side Arsenal’s radar.

The right back was watched by Gunners scouts at the weekend, as Burnley suffered their first defeat under new manager Sean Dyche.

Trippier had one of his quieter games in the 2-1 loss at Ipswich Town.

But it is believed the Gunners have generally been impressed by Trippier’s attacking style, and with reports that the London club are set to lose Bacary Sagna to Inter Milan in the summer, they have already started the search for a replacement.

However, one of the key reasons for Trippier leaving Manchester City to join Burnley on a permanent deal last January was his desire to play regular first team football.

That is unlikely to be on offer at the Emirates, after Carl Jenkinson capped a week in which he was called up to the senior England squad with the offer of a new five-year deal at Arsenal.

Trippier has established himself as a Turf Moor favourite since arriving on an initial loan deal from Manchester City ahead of the 2011/12 campaign.

He went on to make his move permanent by signing a three-and-a-half year deal last January, and was voted player of the year - both by Clarets fans and his team-mates. His arrival in the summer of 2011, following Tyrone Mears’ exit to Bolton Wanderers, highlighted the benefits of the loan market.

And that is an option new boss Dyche is looking to explore before the loan window closes on November 25.

The transfer window will re-open on January 1, 2013.

“You’re always looking to search for improvement – any manager at any club. We’re no different,” said Dyche, who is looking to make the most of a full week on the training ground, after winning two of the three games in his hectic first full week in charge.

“It’s important for me and the staff to further instil the things that we think are appropriate – the mental fitness meets the physical fitness meets the tactical and technical, so we’ve got time to work on that this week,” said the 41-year-old, who has called for a reaction to Saturday’s defeat at Portman Road.

“I think football’s always about reaction,” he added. “As big a responsibility comes with success as it is with failure.

“With failure you have to respond, you have to show responsibility. With success you have to manage your mindset to make sure you’re still driving for more wins.

“I don’t think that was in question (on Saturday). I thought the players for Burnley gave another real strong physical shift, and also there was some really good play.

“There were plenty of positives that we can build on.”

Dyche will be hoping to have Ben Mee available for the visit of Charlton Athletic on Saturday, after the defender missed the weekend trip with a foot injury.

“It’s a knock so we’re hopeful that will settle down in the early part of the week,” he added.

“It was a near one but Laffs (Danny Lafferty) stepped in and did well, and that’s important – that players are ready to go in and deliver performances because over a season we need a whole squad.”
