FULL TIME: Blackburn Rovers 1 Birmingham City 1
4:58pm Saturday 10th November 2012 in Football
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
HENNING Berg is still waiting for his first win at Blackburn Rovers manager after a lack of killer instinct saw them draw 1-1 with Birmingham City this afternoon.
Berg's men controlled proceedings for much of the afternoon but were let down continuously by the final ball.
Ruben Rochina gave Rovers the lead from the penalty spot on 12 minutes after Mauro Formica had been brought down by David Murphy.
It was the least the hosts deserved from a bright start, with Markus Olsson, Jordan Rhodes and Rochina also going close.
The visitors were level against the run of play just five minutes later as a moment of defensive hesitance allowed Marlon King to sneak in and level from close range.
Chris Burke was allowed too much space to cross from the right, Scott Dann should have dealt better with the ball that hit him, and King was on hand after Nikola Zigic's had bobbled against the post.
Rovers should have been ahead at the break though, with an improved Murphy firing just over and Markus Olsson dragging wide from close range.
Rhodes saw a looping header cleared off the line by Paul Robinson early in the second half before Formica's clever chip was clawed away by Butland on 71.
Paul Robinson had to be alert to tip Hayden Mullins' strike from distance over the bar with 10 minutes left, while Rovers substitute Fabio Nunes fired inches over after a driving run.

Just wait for them to come on here with their numerous bogus accounts, claiming Rovers played well and reason for hope, more time...etc etc etc. They're just treating the paying supporters like utter clowns.

Good shape and passing, with some flair and pace.
Henning has a big job on his hands , think if he had been appointed 2 or 3 weeks ago we would now be picking up more points. however very very encouraging.

Nunes, when he came on was dangerous, much better than Markus who played well. Nunes is the type of player who could really complement Rochina.
Overall, blackburn played really really well. Despite a draw, its the best i have seen blackburn play in a very long time.

For the first time since Sam left I really enjoyed the game today, the results will come.
The big negative is that it took the owners so long to make a change and make an appointment, the delay could cost us come the end of the season.

That game was amazing, a win would have made perfection but the 14k crowd gave it their all in support of the team and it was great to see.
My only question as raised by others was Rochina coming off. What sublime skill on the ball! if i could get a recording of that game I'd love to watch him over again lol but he should have stayed on personally. I felt we lost some sharpness in the attack after he came off. Also Murphy proved today he can earn his captains armband, he was so much in control and creative.
The best Rovers have played in a long long time and man did they look HUNGRY today. The results don't mirror the performance but the effort of the team and style of play.. Simon Vukcevic.. what an amazing talent - just shows how little Keanadonna knew about management keeping him out of the team.

You are obviously a BRAG plant, trying to drum up mass support for a boycott when you don't even go and haven't been in two years. This is so if you can get the crowds down to below 100 you and your Brag buddies have a better chance of buying the club for the £32.50 you have managed to raise between you.
Nice try and you would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for them pesky kids.

Lapses in concentration are costing the team points and that needs to be addressed before we are adrift of the top.
Rovers need an organising centrehalf who can install discipline at the back.Get Givet in at fullback and Martin Olsen as the wing back.
The two that impressed today were Adam Henley - I would love to now why Kean ignored him last season after Old Trafford and Simon Vuckevic - he has the ability to take players on produce quality crosses and tracks back to defend - again why he was ignored for 18 months beggars belief.
Now we need some serious support for Jordan Rhodes - he is not a One up front striker never was never will be. We need a bit of brawn up there someone able to hold the ball up for others to come through on - a Kenwyne Jones type would do nicely even on an Emergency Loan until Best is fit - maybe he is the missing link.
I fear we are not Premiership quslity at the moment but are we are movong forward and wasnt the atmosphere today at Ewood just brilliant - made you want to be there

This was the best performance in long time. Finally a manager found how to get the best out of Rochina ( a very talented player, true Premiership class).
Maybe Rochina as number 10 and Rhodes+Gomes in the front for home games. Fábio Nunes is very sharp and dangerous, we need to use him more as well.
And why not Vukcevic for Murphy or Ethutu sometimes. He was on top shape today. True fighter.

I admit that we played some nice football today but at this stage in the season I would prefer three ugly points than one pretty one.
Much has been said about the transformation of Danny Murphy under Henning Berg but I would argue that this says rather less about Henning's managerial genius than Murphy's attitude and application.
Our goal came from a penalty and we conceded to another woeful defensive display.
Finally, for Shebby, the Snake to come on the pitch with his arm around Bryan Douglas, a player he has never seen and probably never heard of, was nothing short of sickmaking and further evidence of the depths that this snake will slither to ingratiate himself with the fans.

What a shame QPR lost again today...they showed so much promise last season at the Etihad Stadium. Who would have thought City would equalise in the 90th minute and then go on to win it??...the odds must have been off the scale!!!
.
...and those guys on SSN were SO excited (they like a flutter don't they?)...remind me...who is Charlie Nicholas's agent again?? Oh yeah...wasn't it the same guy who arranged the first takeover of City?? Didn't MLT also admit to trying to fix a bet when he played for Southampton??
.
Back to City...they were managed by SGE - remember the NOTW sheikh?? Where SGE was interested in taking over a club to benefit financially!
.
Then City were managed by Hughesy of course!!! Didn't Hughesy's Fulham go on an amazing run of 2-1 games before leaving out of the blue. Wow all these coincidences!!!
.
Of course then there is the game at Spurs (who just happen to have Tim Sherwood in their ranks) where Rovers failed to shoot on target in the entire 90 mins...with a player coming off winking at the bench. Then Harry was incredibly overlooked for the England job and then sacked by Spurs. His name was then linked with the Rovers job - as was Sherwood and McKinlay - but took him 3 days to deny all knowledge!!
.
Such coincidences!! But let's go back to City's title win. Check out the "defending" for the goal...

Hughes industries, that being howard hughes mastered Nano technology, what you thought was someone winking at the bench was in fact him taking a picture of a ball swap going on, the ball is in fact a small spaceship controlled by NANOBOTS that take instructions from Sky sports central. A certain super agent issues all pundits with the outcomes of all matches so they can rake in the cash in a massive betting ring.
I didn't beleive it at first but when I heard MLT saying that he put a quid on southampton to draw with sansea 1-1 and I realised he would end up winning £2 I thought thats 100% profit in 95 minutes, so I've studied a lot of video tape and can confirm that the second planes wings disappeared before it hits the tower so it was a hologram. Just like the 7 goal drubbing we took off United. That was a hologram as well.

The thousands out there who haven't come back have done so for their own good reasons.
There needs to be some fundamental changes at the club, FROM THE VERY TOP, in their attitude towards the fans. That means the owners getting off their high horses and interacting with the fans, their customers, or at least speaking to them. Their arrogance has driven many away.
Next door to me there are a family of five who will not go again for that very reason. Multiply that by the stay aways in your street and the answer is there.
Of course there are the 'glory hunters' as there are at any club, but Venkeys aren't helping themselves.

Do you really feel it is worth £29 to watch a game at this level. Quality is a big step down from Premiership in terms of teams and individuals.
Reality check - few Rovers players would be first choice players in Premiership 2 at most - the quality left during Keans reign - we need to build agian for the future and if that means two years in this division so be it - lets just get it right - up early and you come down quick and only Venkys and the cash would benefit not the supporters

No wonder you have found a soul mate in that other **** on here.
STC, do you really, honestly think the owners/club have dozens of bogus accounts on here? Do they really believe they think launching a campaign of some kind of half-@ssed psychological warfare against pr!cks like you on the LET website will make one jot of a difference?
Have you ever thought for one second, just one second, people may be feeling a touch more positive (remember that feeling?) and want to say so? Having said that, thinking would appear to be a challenge too far.
Obsession and paranoia - almost as dangerous a combination as your mate's; almost.

Rochina's improvement was that he didn't try to beat everybody and found some excellent passes.
I am surprised few posters have mentioned the style of play in terms of the HUGE difference in style. Very little hoofball. The ball was generally played on the deck. Berg clearly knows how he wants to see the game played.
The atmosphere towards the end was excellent. Other than the teams performance the most noticeable plus was the overall feeling/sense of confidence around Ewood as the game wore on. In other words no negative vibes. T'was all good.
Give Berg some time. He'll start winning with what he has at his disposal now and then with the intro of a No 9 and genuine leader at the centre of defence we will start to progress even more.
All in all a VAST improvement. Well done to Henning, the players and those that were there.

Jordon Rhodes is a natural goal scorer ,however he is not at his best with his back to goal.Henning knows this and that is why RR was trying to thread those angled balls for JR to run on to.

3 decent passes per game for JR to run on to and we can walk this league.

On 17th Nov, we are on road again and there is breathing time till next match, Berg should ask all the 25 member first team players to be alert as professional footballers and study the opponents game specially The Posh did a good game against Huddersfield and Derby. They can upset good team.
Now we are in a position to WIN at least 23 matches from the available 30 for this championship. If we draw all the matches like we are doing now, we will sit in the mid table and forget about the prem for another 4 years. So It is time to gain the winning momentum back, if Berg want additional top class players, he should open up soon and fix the gaps. If we spend now, it is better. We already lost few good matches with our defense and midfield mistakes, which is showing some thing is not connected and co-related to produce the correct passes and control the ball.
If we reach in the playoff stage, it is risk to win and highly critical to control emotions in Blackburn.
Best wishes..........Chee

It reads as a jumbled mess of conjecture authored by a cretin with little or nothing else to do with your day(s)
Every single person who opines on these boards know just what they have had to endure in regards these last two years or so. The simple fact of the matter is, and I'm sure all agree, this takeover and it's resultant consequences have put BRFC on it's backside, but as ardent and dedicated supporters of BRFC we look to the future with hope if not with a little trepidation.
No-one can deny that much as still to be done in restoring that which BRFC supporters have become accustomed these previous 20 years, but the reality is there for all to see, and the only way in resurrecting the days of success is by supporting it particularly now that BRFC is on it's backside.
This situation that BRFC finds itself in regards people staying away from Ewood is nothing new. History suggest it, and for those who choose to attend and give their support in these days of evil presidency have my respect because BRFC is in their hearts and soul.

Henning Berg would not have been my choice. In fact he would not have been on my interview list, but I very much hope that he is a success. That is not changed by acknowledging his past record. In fact it is one of the questions about the appointment that Venky's have failed to answer along with every other piece of information about the appointment. The only insight into this appointment given out by the Venky's of which I am aware is that they were looking for someone who shared Mrs Desai's philosophy of passing football.

I agree but when DID Venkeys explain anything to the fans. Do we matter to them ? It seems not and that annoys me greatly.
As I commented in an earlier post, I have neighbours who used to spend £2,500 a year (season tickets, travelling and spending money at the ground ) supporting Rovers, but now no longer go as they "Don't feel valued"

Berg has transformed thus team, someone mentioned style of play, but I remember the hunger more. For the first time in a long time we actually looked like we WANTED the win, almost like they were inspired and confident that it could be done.
It's this that had everyone so excited and as someone said made you feel like we'd lost because at times we were all over them, dominant and in control. How often have we been able to say that these past few years?
So even with a draw and lost points, its right that Rovers fans should come on here feeling upbeat and positive for the first time in a long while and understandable why the dingles and conspiracy loving naysayers trying to bring us down.

As for me this was the first time in longer than I care to remember that I was looking forward to going to Ewood and I have to say that I really enjoyed the game, what a pity we just couldn't get the result we deserved.
Apart from a couple of missed passes Murphy was outstanding, Formica and Rochina a constant threat and at last both of the Olsen boys looked like they wanted to be on the pitch wearing the blue and white for the first time this season.
OK still a few problems in defence but if they continue to play like this the points will soon start to roll in.

If Blackpool had used the same thought process they would never have employed Holloway would they, after all he wasn't all that successful at his previous clubs was he?
And to be honest any appointment made was going to be a gamble, each of us had different ideas as to who the best choice would have been but whether we like it or not it is Venky's who are putting their hands in their pockets, so they have to have the final choice.
There can only be one manager, I suspect that Venky's have learned that the hard way.
So we can be like Smelly, sniping away on a provincial newspaper website, his total hatred there for all to see, or we back Henning Berg and the team by getting down there and supporting them.
I know what I will be doing.
OK 2 points out of 9 isn't a great return but I saw something yesterday that told me we could have the right man in place, he has inherited a squad of players that lacks confidence, even commitment in some cases yet in three games we can already see the difference.

Agents maybe lower than a snake's belly but their job is to get the best deals for their clients (and of course themselves). The fact Myles is Hans Christian's son will not be seen as relevant in any investigation.
I really hope there have been dodgy dealings involved in all of this mess and someone will be made accountable. The ineptitude of the owners has seemed almost beyond belief so it would at least explain why. We could also feel vindicated after all the stick we have taken.
However, I still think we are just looking at naive, ill-advised and incompetent people who took over a business in what was to them a totally new industry without any real idea of what they were doing. Like it or not, they won't get put away just because they are useless.

What I saw on Saturday was, like at Huddersfield, promising. Berg is starting to get something out of the squad and delivered an entertaining, but still frustrating, game. It will take a few weeks to turn ' unfit, disorganised and demoralised ' into an effective team but other posters have already summed it up. The real positive has been the impact of Henley, Rochina & Vucevic all ignored by Kean, and whatever Berg has said to Murphy. I have been very critical of Murphy but if I'm honest, on Saturday he looked more like the player I thought we bought from Fulham.
But for some wayward finishing we could, and should, have beaten a very poor Birmingham side, the fact we didn't says there's still a lot to do, but Berg is moving in the right direction. With the likes of Nunes coming off the bench there is some attacking threat and the kind of service Rhodes needs, if we can keep Rochina higher up the pitch then he will provide the support in attack. Sadly he ran out of steam on Saturday but we all know a fitness coach is desperately needed by a squad that has been mismanaged for some time.

The problem with being a members of the most intelligent species on the planet is we have the capacity to think. We also have the capacity to think too much - or at least try to; the results of all this thinking are limited by the level of intelligence with which each individual is blessed.
A very low level of intelligence added to our capacity to be ignorant and prejudiced can be incredibly dangerous. Like it or not, we simply can’t all be Albert Einstein; however, due to us all possessing a reasonable level of intelligence, we do have the choice not to be like this prat.

I admit he was stuffed for resources at Ewood and did the best he could with what he had, but when our goalkeeper was our top rated OPTA "goal assist" it sort of underlines the tactics used doesn't it?
And it's ok picking out the bits you want from what I wrote as well, but lets not forget he didn't want to be at Rovers, we didn't suit his lofty ambitions, UAE, Barcelona, England, and he had to be persuaded to stay on as manager on more than one occasion in the 12 to 18 months prior to Venky's taking over.
But that's the last time I will raise the issue of Lardarse, he's gone and good riddance as far as I am concerned, Venky's were manna from heaven as far as Lardarse was concerned, they gave him his get out of gaol free card, and a nice fat cheque in his back pocket to boot I presume.
Personally I am looking forward to the next game and then taking it from there.one game at a time.
